What's The Worst Physical Pain You've Ever Experienced?

Featured Replies

8-9 years ago I was wrestling with my kids on my bed and my oldest blindsided me and knocked me off the bed. I was on my knees when he hit me and my right leg was caught underneath me when I went over backwards.

Immediate severe pain in my knee. Something popped. After weeks of doctor visits and cortisone shots and xrays and MRIs, the Ortho couldn't see what the exact problem was. So it was either scope it or live with the pain.

So we scoped it. I had a one centimeter wide hole in the bottom of my femur. A complete hole all the way through the bone. So they took cartilage from another part of my knee, mixed it with some synthetic cartilage and did a bone graft over the site.

It felt weird for about 20-21 months and then one day I realized I couldn't feel it anymore. I still can't run on concrete. No basketball. Gave up golf cause I hate riding in a cart.

So I tell you that story of pain to get to the real point. After surgery I was non-weight-bearing for 12 weeks. Twice during that period I hit a low spot with my crutches and jammed them up into my shoulder socket, dislocating the humerus from the socket.

That pain was actually worse than my knee was pre-surgery. My chiropractor put the ball back in the socket and it hurt like hell. And kinda gross hearing the bones rub against each other.

Knock on wood I've led a relatively injury/illness free life so far.

I have a pretty raging case of plantar faciaitis going right now that hurts so bad some nights the sheet touching my foot wakes me up.

Broke a thumb a few years back (my only broken bone ever) and that was pretty painful.

I've had a couple of minor surgeries but pain after was minimal.

I've been lucky.

Struck by lightning!?! WOW That explains a lot haha. No seriously I like to hear the story about that one.

When I was 19 I called in sick to work when I wasn't, so I could go rappelling one Sunday. Afterwards went to my mom's and was standing on her screened in deck watching the storm when lightning struck a tree, ran down the tree and arced over through the screen and popped me.

Knocked me out cold. But not before I felt it. It felt like when you are sunburned and someone slaps you on the back but on every inch of my body. My ears, lips, tongue, finger nails, all of my skin, private area even my gums felt like they were on fire all at once.

Came to and almost hyperventilated, my mom hydroplaned and did a 720 right in the middle of the road taking me to the hospital. Knocked my heart out of rhythm and stayed at hospital 30 hours or so.

I always blamed Walmart, since I called in sick when I really wasn't...never realized how powerful they really were until that day. I used to tell that story to new hires all of the time to scare them from calling in sick :lol2:

Now thats a crazy story. I always watch a storm either in garage with doors open obviously or under deck. I might think twice now!

1) A dentist did not get me numbed all the way and hit a nerve, drilling out a cavity.

2) Broken ankles. Broke each one, twice.

3) Gout. I've had it since I was 18. It also attacks my ankles. I always keep Indometacin close by, though I haven't had an attack in 4 years.

I've never been cut on. Something tells me I won't take to that too kindly.

You would think after the first time you would quit playing PurplePride one on one!

-Been shot.

-Been stabbed.

-Been bit by a shark. Had a wet suit on so it was just teeth punctures.

Shot is worst. Tears flesh instead of cutting it.

With all of your weight loss, especially as fast as you lost it, I'd keep an anti-inflammatory near. As your body detoxifies it will loosen purine deposits embedded in the joints and cause gout attacks.

Been there, done that.

Have to be on the lookout on that. One good by-product of this is my daily allopurinol has helped keep things mostly under control for me during all this. I get some occasional stiffness but not much pain as long as I don't do anything crazy like a three-day bender.

Holy crap man! Very few people have ever experienced any of that, how'd you manage all 3?

:scared: You have to stop disagreeing with Mcpapa, he doesn't take dissent well.

Had an ACL reconstruction. That hurt.

Lower back spasms to the point you can't move. That hurts worse.

Broken ribs are the worst for me. Even breathing hurts. Of course when people find that out, everyone decides to start telling jokes to make you laugh, making it 10 times worse.

Kidney stones are really bad but when they are out, the pain is immediately gone. Not so with birth. The healing time is pretty painful as well, especially if there was any cutting involved.

For any of you future dads, I highly recommend that you do your best to not see it if there is any cutting involved. I unfortunately was not given that advice, and trust me it's something you do not want to see.

Without a doubt, gout. With a really good case, it even hurts if the bed sheet lays on your foot.

I think it was when I hit a home run against this Randolph team and sprinted the bases like Pete Rose. I should of took it easy since we were up 15-0.

Half of this is correct. You were probably Sprinting the Bases because you couldn't reach the Fences but I don't remember ever being down 15-0 to the Kentucky Kings. Might of been that 1 State tourney at NKU the 1 year when we sent our "B" team to play you guys while our "A' team stayed and played at the Bellevue Vets.....Remember????:D Just waiting for Lawnboy13 to chime in anytime. As Lawnboy would say...."I remember putting both of your teams in the Losers bracket every Tourney" Blah-Blah-Blah!

Don't get me started on how painful sex is for the first time after having a baby!

Aren't you glad you asked this question, CWB?!

I don't remember it being painful at all. :)

Clipping a telephone pole and going through a passenger side window and getting ejected out of the car doing 90 mph and landing in the street. Walked out of the hospital 5 hours later.
