What's The Worst Physical Pain You've Ever Experienced?

Featured Replies

Thick oak door slammed on my right hand. The doors latch severed my tendon. It broke my wrist and caused stressed fractures up to my elbow... Or the time I broke a few ribs.. That was horrific

The ceiling in my bedroom fell on me and it crushed four disc in my neck. Worst pain I have ever felt. Felt like someone was pushing my shoulders into my body. I had back surgery in high school and it was nothing compared to my neck injury.

Ruptured achilles tendon playing hoops. Felt like I was giving birth to a buffalo through the back of my foot.

To this day, my greatest physical fear is blowing an Achilles. I just can't even imagine...and those carts you have to ride after are nothing short of ridiculous.

I ran up on mine with a pull-along tow-motor some 25 years ago and it was quite unpleasant. Just stretched it real bad. Didn't really recall it because the gout pain blocks out all the others.

Motorcycle accident. Lady doing probably 45 clipped my front wheel and sent me onto her hood; my helmet shattered her windshield; I flew off the front of the car over my bike (I was told by witnesses about 20-25 feet through the air). Believe it or not I walked away with no broken bones and just a few scrapes (it was like slow motion going through the air, like I had time to think about it and knew I had to roll when I landed.) The pain was actually the next day. When I say every muscle in my body hurt I mean literally... every... single... muscle... was as sore as it could be. Couldn't get out of bed without terrible pain; couldn't bend at the knees or elbows without cringing. My entire body must have tensed up 100% and then some during the accident.

Cyclops lesion after ACL being severed. It's a little "bump" on the end of your ACL that can form. When the ligament slips down toward your knee joint, it won't allow your knee to straighten, which was a "requirement" prior to getting it reconstructed. Had a well known PT strap my leg down, tell me to put in an extra piece of bubble gum and proceed to put his weight down onto my leg to attempt to get it straight...for several days in a row. It was that deep down in the gut pain...

Gastrocnemius (calf muscle) tear was my worst. I would have rather given birth to all three of my children all over (and I went natural with all three).

The scenario was the best part. We live at the top of a hill. My son runs that hill as part of his football training. Here I am, 34 years old, and I challenge him to a race. Four steps in I hear a rip and a pop and went down in the yard like I had been shot. Needless to say he won the race and I lost a little dignity crawling back up the hill. The lesson? If you are over 30, always stretch first kids!

My dad tore his calf muscle a few years ago.

He was going to clean the gutters so I was holding the ladder for him. He's halfway up the ladder and looks back at me and says "why would you do that?" I asked what he was talking about and he goes "you punched me in the calf". I was confused and he didn't believe me when I said no.

The next morning he couldn't walk. Went to the doctor and finds out he tore the calf. He came home and told me "well I guess you didn't punch me..."

When I was in the 7th grade, I was playing some silly game on a trampoline with a few buddies. I was laying flat on my back and my buddies were jumping over me for whatever reason. I decided to put my legs/arms in the air to make my buddy fall when trying to do a flip over me (or something like that). I made him fall alright, but his knee landed directly between my nose and upper lip. He knocked out 2 teeth, and cracked my Maxilla in half. It took 2 surgeries and braces to get me back to having a normal smile, and my diet for 6 weeks consisted of yogurt, shakes, mashed potatoes, etc.

Also, when I ran into the house to get help, my buddies cousin who was planning on becoming a nurse saw my mouth dripping blood. She is now a school teacher :)
