How about in 07 when the new draw comes and it isn't the 2 Louisville districts paired up?

When teams #1, #2, and #3 (and in all likely hood five of the top ten) are all in the same quarter of the bracket, the bracket is unbalanced.

All the whining from the 'ville..... however did you guys ever win a game when it was Louisville vs. the state at large? The only thing I see is that you guys have to meet sooner. If that kills this god awful debate over new classes than I'm all for it. I would rather things are left alone, but this is an acceptible compromise to me. I could care less about the gate. This is high school football and the finals should never be played with money at the gate as the underlying motivator. This ain't a buisiness like pro football. It's AMATUER athletics for his sake. May the best team win...

I never said we were head and shoulders above X & Male, I am simply stating facts - 4 out 5 - I guess if we were 5 out of 5 that would seal it.

While there is NEVER a certain matchup of the two best teams in 4A, the current (2005 and before) did as close a job as possible. This new setup allows for people to feel good about being the "State at Large Champ" (Bonne County loves it). Bravo....band-aid on an artery in my opinion.

This whole thing really comes down to adverse impact on 2 schools - 1)Manual, traditionally the third place finisher in 4A Region 2 District 4 and EITHER PRP or Butler, traditionally the fourth place finisher. The other one of the two typically does not make it in anyway and cannot claim to be impacted. I don't see the argument for Ballard. Ballard is almost always 2nd, with Fern Creek and Shelby jockeying behind them, and their talent level is on a par with the NKY schools they usually face in the first round under the old system.

 

So we get back to Manual and PRP/Butler. The problem with PRP/Butler in the #4 slot is that they historically have not fared too well against the #1 from Region 2, District 3 (John Hardin last year), so where does the argument go? If you can't win under the current system much, who cares if you're falling to JH or falling to X? Its still going to take a great year and great effort to get past the hump in the first round.

 

So we really come to Manual, which is why all of the Rams on this site are yelling the loudest, being sacrificed under this new proposal. Everything lining up as normal, they would have to get past Male and then X to get to a region final, rather than their traditional Meade County and then X situation.

 

Of all the schools in Louisville that I consider to be most resilient, it is DuPont Manual. I know a huge number of doctors, lawyers, and other professionals in Louisville that would rather send their children to Manual than to T or X because they consider Manual a better school. Its academic variety, history, and flavor transcends athletics so much that I see no adverse impact upon Manual as a result of this. I think they will perservere.

 

And sacrificing Manual to avoid a split is a fair price.

Yeah what this does is basically makes the Catholic school powers beat up on Louisville schools, this way the county schools will never support a prop 20 like measure again. It makes it so the Louisville schools are guaranteed a slot and the non Louisville schools are guaranteed a spot which only benifits the non-Louisville schools in saying that they went farther in the playoffs only to lose to a Louisville school in the Championships every year. Basically a win for St. X and Trinity because it is a divide and conquer strategy. The County schools will be too happy to care that they are basically cutting their own throats in the long term. No Louisville teams means no Louisville gate.

 

The teams playing in the games get NO money from the gate so what do they care??? The schools won't suffer any from a drop in attendance, it will only be the KHSAA coffers. I fail to see how this would hurt the "county schools" all that much...

Reminds me of Lexingtons baseball District! Laffyette got beat out in the play in game and they are a KY powerhouse. That baseball district has Tates Creek, Lex Cath, Lex Christian, Laffyette, Dunbar!!!!!:scared:
