Not really, it was a great game, but I think your stretching to make a case that this game and these two individual performances have caused the number of Kentucky high school football players to get college scholarships to increase. I haven't seen a change in high school football in the two years since this game. What am I missing?

I think that Louisville kids do get more notice, and the state in general gets more respect for its football talent, instead of just being seen on a national recruiting scale as a roundball state.

If Belfry was the 2nd best team in the state, why dont they deserve to play in the championship game at Papa Johns?

 

Since they had to play Russell in the semi's, we dont know if they possibly werent a TD or 2 better than O Cath.

This "crowd" actually knows what they are talking about when it comes to 4A, and this is not a good thing for the quality of competition. Manual has not won a State title since the 60's so the end result is not going to change much for us. Not to say this doesn't effect Manual but really my beef is that it effects the whole system and it will have a negitive effect on 4A football overall due to the dynamics of the situation with the city schools and the private school having a dominate effect. Heck I may be wrong and this might be the greated thing since sliced bread, but this is my opinion. And if you are writing off my opinion or the other Manual posters because our school is getting a rougher road to the finals you can do it but you are writing off the opinions of a bunch of guys that played in this district, grew up in this district and who's grandfathers played in this district and that know of what they speak. I was against the split even though my school was for it because I thought it hurt football, and I am against this because I think it will hurt football.

I had mentioned elsewhere that Ive always felt teams will rise to meet a power in their midst (so to speak). Now if some people or schools (admin's?)there believe that is not possible, then there IS a problem. Is this what your getting at?

 

If this is true?, I just feel that the state brackets are the least of those schools problems. Maybe that seems selfish or dismissive but darn it, if some of you guys can't or wont do what is necessary to at least get competitive, then why should the rest of the state spend time worrying about it?

If a large chunk of Louisville schools have never really advanced much as it is, what are we debating? It seems like just a hypothetical rather than anything real.

 

Now if the situation exists whereby certain schools find it 100% impossible to become competitive with a few schools then I believe other more serious issues need to be addressed rather than a playoff bracket. I mean it's great to win but HS sports is about competing, teamwork, discipline, ..you know the list:thumb:

You are looking at it from the perspective of your school then I guess because as someone that has followed this district and 4A football for 16 years I think it will have a great effect on 4A football, not limit to just my school. I think it is step BACKWARDS, which is totally predicated on making the road to the championship easier for the 4A county schools and harder for the Louisville schools and so as to split the Louisville public schools from the rest fo the state politcally so as to stop the public private split. (a split I disagreed with from the start mind you) basically it is designed to put you and I at odds and I am not surprised at all, as long as the politician keep the rural folks fighting with the cityfolks they can do whatever they please. Also I don't care what they do in 1A-3A, if it works better for those classes due to their make up then fine, but let's face facts this was done to stop the public private split and is really about 4A that I am upset, the rest of the classes it is not as big a deal because they have more parity overall then 4A does. The lack of 4A parity is what the public private root problem is about, and parity is healthy for football. That is why 3A is often just as good as 4A or better in my opinion, because parity inspires hope and rivalry. Something 4A lacks.

 

The politicians dont have us fighting. You have us fighting by not looking at this from my point of view. I gave you the benefit of saying that maybe this might work maybe it wont. I'm sorry I still don't follow you. So beating Boone Co. and then St. X gets you more respect than beating St. X and then Boone Co. ? Either way your still state champs. Your players skills did not diminish based on the order in which you played your opponets.

There is not a single team in the state, in any class from any area, that can win 3 in a row against the Big 3, all on the road in a playoff enviornment, and still have anything left in the tank (if they can even make it THAT far.)

 

You can paint it as Manual being whiny, or lacking the resolve to do what it takes to win, all you want. But people that seriously follow football in this state will tell you- no team can do it.

MY point obviously is that the 2 best teams don't traditionally match up always in the final game - they frequently play BEFORE. and you know what... the best team usually wins no matter when they play:thumb:
