New football playoff format would pit Louisville schools...

Featured Replies

Again, I think you might want to bone up on your 4A.

In 4A, there are two Louisville districts, one with Male, Manual, St. X, etc and another with Trinity, Ballard, Fern Creek, etc. So the draw for the Louisville 'region' (surprise, surprise when that happens) gives you the third game in a row against the Big 3 during the playoffs.

I don't need to bone up on my 4A - I dont have a 4A to bone up on, i prefer other more delicate .... never mind:laugh:

I like how you have been using a very very big IF to automatically argue in all your posts that some teams will now be forced to play 3 straight playoff games against the big 3.

If you will be honest, iot seems that you will have to admit that they will NOT exactly be forced to play the big 3 now will they????

After 2 games its coin flip isn't it?

Doesnt this mean that 2 Louisville teams could be playing in the finals?

Someone please correct me if I read it wrong

Or do you guys think there is a conspiracy and it will automatically come up for the other louisville group?

You pointed out it was equal and I show you it isnt. Now you want to argue what is logical. Is it logical in the current alignment there are 4 districts on each side, on the West side there are 6 teams in each district. On the East side the districts are aligned with 8,8,7,7 respectively. If they can be that way with Louisville separate you can easily reverse it and go 8,8,7,7 on the West and 6,6,6,6 on the East.

I could also point out that Nelson County geographically is East of Jefferson Co. yet they are on the west side of the bracket. Bullitt Co. is due south of Jefferson, they are on the West side of the bracket while those 6 Jefferson schools are on the East side of the bracket.

Shall we continue???

Please do!

Draw up districts that make as much sense as they do currently, that place every single Louisville school in the West bracket, and keeps teams only playing schools that are near each other.

You point out the sob story of Nelson County (which actually has most of its land south of Louisville, ) that's one school that doesn't quite make sense at the split...but on the other hand, they're playing schools that are it's geographical siblings (right next door!) in Hardin Co. What a hardship for Nelson Co, instead of making them drive to Lexington bi-weekly.

Of course, sorry to say that you've already admited that the Lexington district is full at 8. Now you want to squeeze in THREE schools from the metro-Louisville area (Shelby Co, Oldham Co, and Nelson) or split three schools out of Lexington to join them in a new district. Which is really what you have to do, because you need a new East district out of thin air.

You've got to take the CKY1 district and split it between WKY and CKY2. Not that it really makes any sense, but no one asked for that, right? Suppose by some miracle you convince people in Owensboro that they should be playing Hardin Co. schools, and that all works out. Now you've got to split some of those Hardin Co. schools out form the others (whoops!) and pair them with some of Louisville 1 (at least one has to go- Meade Co. is WEST of Hardin and we've already sent Nelson Co East.) Sound illogical? Well what does that matter, we need to make sure that Louisville gets split up!

Basically, you have to make 4A an unholy mess to cram the Louisville schools all into the West. You destroy all the natural pairings to do it. If you sit down at a map, try it, and are honest with yourself, you'll admit it.

You're wrong. The 'blind draw' has already happened, and WHAT A COINCIDENCE... the Louisville districts are paired.
Are you as "blind" as the draw? If Manual finishes 3rd or 4th they now have X and Male in round 1 and 2. If the "blind draw" puts T in round 3, that all of them in less than a month. Count Manual's traditional last regular season game, and you now have four in a row. I hope to NEVER see your response on the year Ashland gets CCH/HHS/Lex Cath in all four of your final games...

gt, you dont have to get personal.

Why is it everytime someone wont give up debating a point you want to turn it into a name calling thing? You have good points to bring up - theres no need to get personal about it.

Why are you guys presenting all your arguments as basically a fact that teams will be forced to play three staright playoff games against the big 3???

There is a coin flip after the first 2 rounds right?

So the odds are much higher that they will draw anyone BUT the other Louisville region simply due to the sheer mathematical odds - am I right?

P.S. Ashland has had tough road many times. We used to face Boone Co regularly and that was when we had the #'s to drop down in class.

We were opposite HHS/Cov cath many years (& took out lumps often, very often:cry:) but we didnt whine and cry about it. The year we won it all '90 Cov Cath got beat before we could get to them and the year after I believe Bell built upon their loss to us the previous playoff and they won it that year '91. we also lost to StX in the Lou vs.atLarge game - we did what we could and started over the next year. I/we are not ignorant of the rest of the state - reghardless of what some seem to believe ocasionally;)

Your school is part of what's right, but keeps playing the side of what's "wrong"...

Unless they're taking place in PMs, I'll probably interject into any point made on this site when it suits me. And for the record, I was well aware of the 'conversation' (aware enough to know who said what, anyway ;) ) I just got around to throwing my two cents in at that point.

They just weren't valid in terms of what we were addressing

NKY v WKY. Ville vs Ville. EKY v Lex. Seems to sum this one up well in reguards to the EKY crowd up in arms...

EKy isnt up in arms, we're just having fun watching the big city folk whine and cry

Pull the hand brake, Woody, and get off. You've missed the stop:

A blind draw determined what district winners meet in the third round, and this fall, Trinity and St. X would meet each other in the third game of the playoffs, if they survive that long.

Thats from the article 'Ru posted. The draw has happened, the Louisville districts will play each other.

There is no "whine and cry" like you claim from my neck of the woods. Try again???

The best two meeting in 4A were people of your same message 20 years ago...

WHAT are you talking about

WHAT are you talking about

Those in EKY that voted for a change in the 4A format 10+ years ago. You claimed to know the situation earlier...

OK so THIS year they play.

Tough luck man. Where do we send the flowers?

Was Manual planning on beating the big 3 this year, or was it next year, or the year after?

When have they done anything? How does this change the future for Manual?

Isn't it the same old song - except for the NEW excuse now
