Was Manual planning on beating the big 3 this year, or was it next year, or the year after?

When have they done anything? How does this change the future for Manual?

Since my senior year (which was not all that long ago, as you might guess from my name) Manual has in fact beaten both Trinity and Male, and had numerous games against all three of the Big 3 come down to the wire (two last season that were decided in the last minute.)

 

And it is NOT the same old song. If Manual could break through against X, the team that they match up least well with, they could have a chance against Male and Trinity with adequete rest between murder games. But under this system, even in the best years, Manual has two games with Male and a game with X all in a row. It's just not do-able for any team to survive that.

Who voted for what exactly ?

If only we were, I'd have less beef with that than this backdoor, halfway solution that doesn't even provide a balanced Louisville bracket..

That shows they can be beat. I'm not denying thats tough but the gauntlet through 3A is pretty darn physical too. To flat out complain that your road is so supremely tougher than say Bell, Rock, Cov Cath, Boyle, Lex Cath, et al is in my opinion sort of ignoring everyone elses situation and ny the tone of some posts on here there is an rather arrogant tone that Louisville is the end all be all in Ky HS football. Brohn v Bush was great but theres lots of good tough football played all over.

I'm for trying new things and don't feel that KHSAA can run everything based on just 1-2 districts in just one class.

I'll leave saying that I know that this isn't horseshoes, and Manual's close calls don't count for all that much. But they count for something. The past few years, Manual's been competitve with the Big 3, and even if they haven't broken through and won that regional title, you can't deny that they've had their chance.

 

Under this new system, that chance is taken away. The district (and Trinity for this year) is just too competitve for what is setup. No team in Kentucky can make it through that gauntlet, I'll stand by that statement. If that's ok with some, that's their opinion. But teams like Manual and Butler and PRP deserve their chance just like a John Hardin and Scott County and Boone does, and to take it away just to give other schools an easier road isn't right. I mean, it gets a little easier for most of the other schools in the state, but it doesn't even get comparitivly harder for those Louisville schools. It goes WAY past that.

 

And I don't think that's right.

No offense to those other schools, but everyone in KY knows that there's no other set in the state that can compare to Male, St. X and Trinity. Not compare them with a straight face anyway.

How much of a difference challenge wise is it for the underdog in each class?

That 3A guantlet for an underdog 3A is just as hard on them as Manual vs the big 3 relatively speaking IMO

 

I have no problem accepting a different opinion but not one who dismisses all the other classes as irrelevant or less than because it's not Louisville 4A

If you think that, you're incorrect. Not to beat a dead horse, but there's a reason they've taken 15 of the last 18 spots for the State. AAA has FAR more parity than 4A. That's the big strength of the class.

Thats the basic argument right? and no one has suggested manipulating 3A or other playoffs b/c of how hard the path is - I don tthink?

 

Its not that 3A is better/stronger just that the road through all the eastern powers is maybe tougher on a struggling 3 team than for your 3 games??
