I like that Male, Manual,St. X and Trinity will keep the 3rd round gate versus the state keeping the finals gate. It will better weather and will still be for the crown. I hate playing the district foes 2 times but oh well. This has nothing to do with prop 20 whatsoever. It has everything to do with the poor little schools out in the state that have to drive 2 hours of a playoff game, to me that is one of the cool perks of the playoffs.

After reading 5 pages of posts, some people think Louisville teams are getting the short end of the stick and the non-Louisville teams have a better chance of making it to the dance. This resembles how Frankfort treats Louisville on tax dollars, doesn't it? Sense this is the general consensus, we should move forward and prepare for a long season. One thing will be for sure, the non-Louisville teams will be embarrassed in the state final in 4A .

 

For sure, it will change once again.

Ok let's straighten somethings out, first I am baseing my statements on past history, out of the last 30 years there have been 5 or less teams from outside of Louisville 4A that won the 4A title, so that is why I am saying the 'Ville is not worried about winning the title, not for nothing but it has normally been St. X or Trinity, so I am not being arrogant, those are not my schools, I have nothing to be arrogant about it is just a fact that those two schools are going to benifit from a lack of parity in Louisville, and make them even more dominate then they already are, for the short term, then they are going to need to play out of state powerhouses to stay sharp in the long term. Secondly this hurts PRP and Butler in the exact same way it hurts Manual, they are not going to get the breather game in between powerhouses or a legit shot at more than one playoff week of practice to build for the future. Third, when I said I don't care about 1A-3A, I didn't mean that I think they are below my concern, it is just not the class that I follow, if many teams in my community played at that level I would care more but most are in 4A, and "I don't mind" are better words to describe my meaning then "I don't care" to describe the fact that if this system works better for 3A then fine let them do it but I think it hurts 4A.

 

Again this STUPID anti-Louisville bias out there is the reason that this will poison 4A and no one will do anything to stop it. The thing is this, all the districts that think they have a great team but have not played anyone to challenge them are going to get steam rolled in later rounds and every year that happens there will be less and less interest in the playoff and football overall in the 4A teams out in the state. You have to have more parity and this leads to less parity in 4A.

R1D1- Potentially has to play one Big 3 instead of two

R2D4- Still has to play all the Big 3, but now in succession. (obviously X and H only have to play 2)

R3D5- Still has to play 2 Big three members but earlier

R4D7- Potentially has to play one Big 3 instead of two

Anyone want to tell me that they think Florida would have won the NCAA if they played Villianova then UConn then Duke for the first three rounds?

 

Of course the rest of the state loves this because now they have to topple one of these powers instead of two. Their trip to the championship just got twice, in one case three times, as easy.

Whats funny is I don't see any Male or Trinity fans whining about this, because they know they are more than likely the best team in the state, and they are going to continue their domination.

And the stationing ot Troops in Korea was only going to be a year too in the beginning. We really don't know what is going to happen, this could be just a blip or it could be the future. I am against it for the future, this one year will not make or break anything. But long term this would be bad for 4A is all I am saying.

Where were you at earlier BIGZIG? I would have liked to see this post directly after the start of the thread. Five pages of name dropping, name calling, stat posting, and nothing changes. The KHSAA made a decision, that like most others is ridiculous and shows how out-of-touch the organization is. This is like fixing the broken down truck with baling wire and tape, patching the hole in the Titanic with rags and bubble gum. Some will like it and some will hate it. Maybe the resolution to more of the problems would be made easier if we fix the the problems by starting at the source.

Seems like the next logical step is to have another "draw" that puts Trinity in the Male and X district.

But I am convinced the layout of districts and brackets initially was to give the possibility of an all Louisville final in 4A.

You couldn't be more wrong about this.

 

It was set up as is to try to get NO Louisville team in the finals.

 

People in the state complained when it was Jefferson County Champ vs. State at large champ for the 4A title. Louisville shouldn't be assured a spot in the championship game they said so it was set up as is with the Louisville districts on opposite sides because if they are on the same side that still almost assures a Louisville team in the championship.

If so many in Jeff Co are against this new structure involving a blind draw, then they surely are for discontinuing the blind draw in the sweet 16 as well, ... correct? I mean how many times have the best 2 teams not played for the state title in basketball and the 'real' title game (according to some) was in the earlier rounds?

 

Playoffs starting in the same district? What other sport does that? Oh yeah, ... most all of them (baseball, basketball, softball, etc). Not saying I am for that, ... I like the excitement of playing teams outside ones district in the playoffs AND regarding the 2 teams I cheer for in 4A (the 2 Laurel Co teams), they have teams inside their district R4 D8, that are further away then some of the teams in the other regions district, R4 D7.

 

Don't get me wrong, ... I am not sure I like this either. But don't worry, no matter how you cut it, there will a 4A Jeff County team in the title game regardless. But remember that in the rest of the football state outside of L'ville, there are other schools who have historically had very tough roads to get the carpet every season as well (eg. Rockcastle, Bell, Cov Cath, Highlands, etc), sometimes from within their own districts as well.

 

But we shouldn't fret. When it goes to 5A or 6A in the very near future it will all change again anyway and we will all have new things to complain about. So at least we have that going for us, right!?! :thumb:
