Just wanted to remind those that can't get out tonight that the game will be on live at 8:00.

WLGC will be carrying the Raceland Rams path throughout the playoffs. Friday's gametime is 8:00 pm. Jim Forrest on play by play with Kent Robinson Color Commentator. If you haven't heard Jim covering Morehead State athletics, you have missed a top notch broadcaster. Tune in to 105.7 FM this week if you can't make it to the game in person, it will almost be like being at the game.

Just a few things from this lengthy thread. The question was asked if Raceland had ever beaten LCA @ LCA. I think a Raceland fan said we had, but we haven't. Our first meeting was in 2001 and LCA beat us 24-22 @ LCA. We made the playoff's that season via the tiebreaker. Also someone stated that we beat NCC when they were the 1 seed. We have never beaten a #1 from NKY. NCC was the 2 and Raceland the 3. Most Raceland fans have become used to a NKY team getting a W through us in the playoffs. But every year brings a new squad a new vision. I certainly am not making any predictions on how far this Ramblers team will advance. I think they are capable of doing some great things. But we have also seen times when they have looked uninspired. And frankly the history of LCA, Raceland and the NKY teams have little to do with this season's matchups. It is the teams currently and how they execute on that Friday night and for many games this time of year it comes down to turnovers. We cannot get upset with others' view of our team, with our poor performance in the playoffs and our recent struggle with LCA it is only fitting that those that do not see our team play in person, predict and feel the way they do. I feel we have had many teams that have been solid top 5 teams through the years, but without the opportunity to play someone other than NKY in the playoffs we only have subjective opinions and speculations where our teams rated in a particular season. And many times matchups determine games and without head to head competition, there again it is all just a big guessing game. Quickly on the watering issue, I like many of the Rambler fans have been here longer than most. And I have NEVER seen or heard of a sprinkling of the field during the playoffs. Raceland fans like many others follow their teams win or lose. Supporting and pulling for those kids that work so hard. And regardless of their previous records in the playoffs, we all continue to dream of that State Championship, maybe this is the season for us Orange fans. We will see.

A little interesting fact I saw was that offensively, regarding points. The Ramblers through 7 weeks had scored exactly the same amount of points last year as this year, 264. With last weeks 54 the 2006 Ramblers lead the 2005 Ramblers by 2 points in scoring.

Congrats to the Ramblers. I spent most of the night on one end of the field along the fence, and it was just like it was 2 years ago. Kids with incredibly foul language and essentially not even watching the game. 2 years ago we wrote Nicholas' principal and he never even bothered to return the e-mail, concerning his kids behavior. Now I'm no saint, but I hate having to explain to my 8 year old things that I would rather wait until she is older to discuss. Heck, I don't even want to talk to her when she is older about those things. LOL.... Good Luck Ramblers against Fairview.

Everyone seems to be going with Paris, and they are at home which should be an advantage for the Greyhounds. But I will take Bath by a 2 point conversion. I go with Bath under the impression they are healthy.

This is one of the reasons, for those of you that know TBF, why you see me on the visitors side at our home games. Most of the coaches I consider as my dearest friends, and the players I love for their dedication and effort. PLUS I follow Fridays games many times with a trip to Morehead State University where my Brother-In-Law is a coach. Listening to those comments wears on you. Hearing all the criticism, of coaches and players, hits you differently each time. Sometimes you laugh, sometimes it hurts you, other times it makes you angry. Hopefully you rise above it and say nothing. Other times you feel compelled to defend those that you care about, and say things best kept in your pocket. BGP has become a great place to defend many of my friends in the coaching and competing arenas. I try to post most of the time under controlled circumstances without the emotion involved at an event. Obviously we all post occasionally under passionate circumstances and choose the wrong words, but I have tried to limit it to when I have a clear mind. Coaches make decisions based on what they believe is the best way to put their kids in the best possible scenerio for their team and that player to be successful. Everyone has different philosophies and ideas. But the only true absolute we know in a sporting event is the outcome we see. If we have a different play we would have called, we have no idea of its success. But rest assured that coaches and players give their heart and soul to their respective sport, and open and public, angry criticism is detrimental to the success of a program and diminishes the hard work and effort of those participating in that sport. We started the firetruck discussion, I thought with a light-hearted note of electing me Chief for a Day. Now everyone is hot under the collar. Maybe we should call them to extinguish the flames. Here is my last note on this so everyone knows where I stand. I've watched Raceland Sports all my life. And I will always be a Rambler fan win or lose. I've seen bad teams, good teams, really bad teams, really good teams. But what I want is championships. District Titles, Regional Titles, State Titles. I want the kids, the coaches, the community to experience that ultimate prize. And until we start convincing our kids to dream of that ultimate prize, to reach for that ring, we invite mediocrity, settling. We need to start our seasons building towards winning titles, all the while being proud and complimentary of their efforts but pushing them to succeed, to be better, to be a CHAMPION. I may be the only person on earth who doesnt like the firetruck escort. But to me when you do something every time you win a regular season game when does it stop being special? When we win a state championship will the escort be special if you as a senior have been a part of it 12 times? My final post on the firetruck issue. Are you serious? You really believe there is as many fans around supporting the players and coaches after losses and losing seasons as winning games and winning seasons? We discussed the 2000 Nicholas game that you and I were at, did you see a large fan base with us? I'm not naive enough to not know that it is a reality that your fan base swells when you win and shrinks when you lose, as does criticism and praise for coaches follows wins and losses for most fans. But that doesnt mean I have to like it. As far as significance of wins is concerned, I don't see a regular season non-district win as anything other than a building block to get to where we should all want to be. A regional and state title. The definition of signifcance would be easy for us to find ourselves on the same side of the fence or opposite, yet still believe the same. Everyones philosophy is different, but the outcome of tonights game may or may not have a positive or negative affect on the season. Don't misunderstand my thoughts as not wanting to win, but win or lose tonight our playoff hopes and state title asperations were unaffected. I hope Coach Parker doesnt mind me quoting him, but when we talk, we talk of winning a state championship. And he wants to win everything he competes at, as do I, yet realizes that embracing or being satisfied with a win over a non-district opponent is counter-productive to achieving that ultimate prize. Let me ask you with a different approach. Do you believe that Boyd County's win of Russell last year was of great importance for either team? Boyd stayed home for the playoffs while Russell carted home the trophy from Papa Johns. Like I said, I want to win. I was disappointed when we were in trouble tonight. But I am not super excited with the win, nor would I have been ready to fire the coaching staff or given up hope of playoff success had we lost.

Here are a few of the comments made following Ashlands loss to Class A Raceland in Week 1 of the 2006 season. We now see the Tomcats at 3-1. Jeepman: I,m not sure what the Tomcats were doing tonight but it appears it might be a long season. RedDevilMVP06: Ashland needs to consider a new direction or get use to under achieving. This isn't new , even Dickie was down. RedShift: If Ashland only has two more home games after the first three weeks, they could be in serious trouble down the stretch. Ashland COULD start the season 0-3. Anybody can beat anybody on any given day, you never know what can happen in a rivalry game like Russell vs. Ashland, but I don't see them beating either. We only play about 15-16 guys with 40 on the sidelines just watching. The coaches say we have alot of depth which is true but we dont use it. Ashland will start 0-3 and probably will only win 3-4 games. I found it humorous, considering Ashlands 3 successive wins.

My first action as Chief will be to park the trucks in the garage until we win something significant. A regional and/or state title. My second will be to pass an ordinance with non-veto power that the trucks roll out for sporting events only during championships. I'm considering a law that allows the trucks to meet the team at the city limits on nights when we lose a big game. Because when we lose there doesnt seem to be as many fans lining up to congratulate the players and coaches for their effort and to tell them we support them win or lose. And that we appreciate their hard work, sweat and tears. Its easy to fill that truck up when you are 4-0 but where is everybody when you are 1-9? Thats when they need the escort and the support to raise their spirits. Can I get some support for my platform???

I would have posted sooner, but got caught behind the firetruck escort, for a non district, regular season win. Hand it to Greenup's defense in the second half. They held Raceland to somewhere between 0 and -14 yards offense after the Ramblers rolled up about 190 in the first half. Congrats to both teams for a great effort.

Raceland certainly had a transition period after losing Vanderhoof. Just as all teams do after losing a major contributor. But P&R what you are missing is the fact that the rest of the team developed and became a stronger unit. Now you add Vanderhoof to that team and it becomes even more solid. And frankly every team in the region will suffer greatly with the loss of a frontline performer. So to say Raceland is an injury away from crushing their season is only stating the obvious. Every team is an injury away from crushing their season. Just depends on how and when it happens whether it determines your fate as far as a region title is concerned. I doubt any team can lose a top 5-7 player and "not miss a beat".

Not necessarily dogging Ashland fans in general, although there are many who were ready to drink the koolaid after last weeks loss. But just as much towards the post you had listing everyone's predictions, most of which were made solely on the fact that they believed there was no chance Ashland could beat Belfry after losing to a Raceland team few felt had any opportunity to win. You think I would argue with you Bea??? Great win for the Tomcats.

I would have thought Ashland would have took up the equipment this week after losing to Lowly Raceland.

I understand the Beach situation to be as it was stated here and yes he needs to be more disciplined. But in the East Carter-Greenup Co. game an East player took the GC QB out of bounds and tossed him over a fence like a WWF match. A bit of a rumble insued and noone was tossed. With a former Tomcat the lead official at the Ashland game Friday it is only fitting to question the possible quick trigger on the ejection.
