oldrambler
Grizzle throws for 4td's and runs for another. Racelands ground game got it going in this one and the offense was able to mix things up well. I heard the radio calling B. Denton's name all night. He was all over the place on "D" from his linebacker postion. This one sounded like a complete team victory in all facets of the game for the Rams. One note on Bath Co., they were playing w/o their star running back (Stevenson I think) and that no doubt hurt them. If they can get him back they will be a dangerous team come playoff time. Austydak
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a way to come back from a off week. I wanted to make the trip from Lex. From what it sounds like the Rams were on their game all night. If some one can get Brett Denton's stats for the games or for the year I would love to see them. I have watched that young man grow up from about 3 yrs old. CONGRATS to Hoof and the rest on the Rams staff. Lets put this one behind us and go out next week and back it up with another big Ram win. oldrambler
From listening to the radio broadcast tonight the thing that impressed me the most was how the Rams mixed up the pass and the run. This spread offense is MUCH more effective when you can do that. Raceland has many good backs they can go to. Bath Co. seemed to have been getting a decent pass rush via the blitz packages tonight and the Rams mixed in and went to the running game and made them pay. When a team has to respect the run in opens the offense up and you can run it the way it is meant to be ran. Overall great game tonight for the Rams!:ylsuper: The "D" line controlled the line of scrimmage with the linebackers playing their usual good game and shut Bath's running game down. This past week off gave the coaches some extra time to work on things that needed fixed and it showed. Way to stay focused Rams, now lets get re focused for Nicholas Co. next week and keep things rolling.:dancingpa
Radioboy74
After being there Raceland is the team to beat in the district. Stevens was out for the game dressed in street clothes. He should be back and ready to play next Friday at Rowan County. The Bath County defense had their mits on Grizzle a few time but he slipped away. Not having Stevens also hurt on the defense almost as much as on offense. Raceland is for real and from what I saw the youngsters are the work horses. Nothing to be taken away from the seniors but it was the Sophmores bringing this one home. Maybe the two can meet in the playoffs and see what happens from there. We think the world of our younger ones but our defensive line is a line of seniors. Some also playing on the O-Line. If it wasnt for the seniors the younger ones would not get where they are. The first two touchdowns were seniors. I think making comments of this nature separates the team. The team from what i understand for the first time in awhile played team ball where they mixed it up for everyone. The important thing is that everyone was happy with the game. Raceland has a perfect balance of great senior leadership and very good younger players. Mesh that combination together with our depth and great coaching staff and you have a football team! If your Wildcats can get the Stevens kid back at 100% you could make some noise down the road leading into the playoffs. "hammy" injuries are hard to heal though, I hope and pray he can come back 100%.

cvillecat
Congrats to the Rams on a great win. ย This was the first game that they played as a team at every position. Every player complimented the other and when a mistake was made someone else picked it up and made the play. Great total team effort by the Rams. The difference in the game was the Rams came out early and played some of the most (physical) defense I have seen in a long time. The defense swarmed to the ball and punished the ball carriers all night. The team speed of Raceland also was a big factor. I think this was the best game of Scott Grizzles career. He handled pressure all night and was able to scramble and find the open receivers who did an outstanding job of route running. The o-line did a nice job of opening the holes for the backs to run through. ย Hats off to the Bath Co. players:thumb: They never quit and played every play. Their program is going in the right direction.
