The 16th Region Class A schools met earlier this week and, among other considerations, selected the preseason top players and top teams for the coming upcoming season. Does anyone have any information as to the outcome.

Top 5 Teams and Players.

 

Teams:

1. Raceland (Tie)

1. Rose Hill (Tie)

3. Elliott Co.

4. Bath Co.

5. Menifee Co.

 

Players:

1. Laura Terry Rose Hill

2. Emily Queen Rose Hill

3. Whitney Seals Raceland

4. Rachael Vanderhoof Raceland

5. Brit Faulkner Rose Hill (Tie)

5. Chelsea Williams Menifee Co. (Tie)

 

I think that was the order for both players and teams. If anyone knows differently please update.

Terry: 18.7 pts, 7.3 rebs, 1.7 asts, 2.3 stls, 3 blks.

 

Queen: 16.7 pts, 11.3 rebs, 2.5 asts, 3.0 stls, 1.4 blks.

Raceland and Rose Hill might be top two teams in the whole region.

Thank you for the information, TBF. Raceland will be particularly tough in the Class A since the regional tournament is played on its home floor. As for the region as a whole, I think Jay has forgotten that Russell is also in the 16th Region.

Two observations:

 

1) I failed to say earlier, but congratulations to Raceland, a fine team that has endured changes and injuries. I hope the Lady Royals can get back to Richmond, but would be pleased to support you, should you get there.

 

2) Someone correct me if need be, but I believe only one among the list of Top 5 players has averaged a "double-double" in the 16th Region and she has done so each of the past three seasons. Congratulations, Emily.:thumb:

I am glad to see Raceland listed the #1 pick along with Rose Hill. The Raceland Lady Rams should have a very good season this year. With the Region being held in "Ram Arena" :lol: It should be a very exciting tourney in a first class facility.

I think Laura Terry is #1. She had an amazing year last year. She finally came out from the shadows. Her shooting % should be listed with all of those stats. Definitely #1! Glad to see RH having 3 of the top 5. Good luck girls!
