  1. Wow! What a game. Nothing is a given in life. This was a tough loss for RH. We were in the lead and should have won it, but Hazard had other plans. What a come-back for them. They are a very well-coached team and got the momentem on their side. RH has been on the other side. We weren't even supposed to be at this tournament. On a side note, Tony Arthur wore the #50 tonight in honor of David Garnes. David would have been a senior this year and was best friends with Tony. What an awesome young man he is. He was very emotional before the game. I am very proud of my Royals! Let's not lose focus- there is still more work to be done! Good luck tomorrow Hazard. You have a special team!
  2. Heard from the Moss Point coaches and players that MP is actually the number two team in Mississippi in this week's rankings. Good game Royals :thumb:
  3. How many years at a school before you are considered homegrown? Coach needs to quit listening to certain parents complain about playing time. It's beginning to get old.
  4. That would make too much sense! I don't care how great a defender you are, you have to score 1 more than the other team to win a ball game. Seems to me Coach Fraley needs a new game plan.
  5. "BTW...how come we never hear anything about Rose Hill Academic Teams? How well do their Academic teams do in Competition?" Rose Hill had one Academic team last year and 5 of the 8 team members won their district and went on to Regionals. That's a pretty good percentage if you ask me considering these students aren't taught specific topics and strategies during the day by their teachers as the public schools do. The overall test scores for RH students are quite amazing. We have numerous students qualifying for the Duke Talent Search each year and many students have such high ACT composites that they are receiving complete scholarships to college. Academics at RH are outstanding. When students transfer from a public school to RH, they usually find themselves behind in some subjects. Our only problem is with little funding. We are not blessed with all the technology and resources the publics have. Thanks for asking!
  6. You could get the boys together for a practice or two? Just a thought.
  7. Yes, that is were they plan on playing the event this year. It is a very nice course. It is very hilly and tough to walk. Also quite long. Great course!:thumb:
  8. Some kids that are held back, for whatever reason, don't play at their "grade level", they play "up". If you are holding your child back to simply dominate kids younger than your child, then you have a problem. Some boys simply physically mature later and will not be ready to go off to college at the age of 17 or even 18. Girls, on the other hand, tend to mature sooner than boys. Last time I checked it is 100% legal with the KHSAA By-laws. Apparently there is a good reason for that.
  9. Well actually, it lacks the whole sour grapes genre that seems so popular these days... :p
  10. Rose Hill guts out another victory over a quality Louisville Central team. Leading scorers for both teams were: For RH: Euton 18 pts/9 reb Jackson 14 pts/14 reb Fuller 11 pts For Central: Skeens 16 pts/8 reb Unseld 13 pts The Royals are 2-1 in the K.O.B. and 5-1 overall. :thumb: They play Louisville Doss Tuesday at 4:30.
  11. I think Laura Terry is #1. She had an amazing year last year. She finally came out from the shadows. Her shooting % should be listed with all of those stats. Definitely #1! Glad to see RH having 3 of the top 5. Good luck girls!
  12. I know I speak for many at Rose Hill when I say that Kyle Bair will be greatly missed. He was a very important part of our basketball and baseball programs, but he was an even bigger part of our RH "family". He will always be family to me and I will cheer him on whereever he plays.
  13. Did Kyle Bair play tonight?
  14. Did Kyle Bair play tonight?
  15. Rose Hill is probably the only school in the region that actually does allow 6th graders to play on the high school team.
  16. What's wrong with the one you have? He seems to get the job done year in and year out.
  17. Is Austin Robinson playing for Russell? Last year I believe he was playing for a Huntington team. Best of luck to this young man. I know he loves his basketball.
  18. Your stock just sky-rocketed in my book. Very kind words indeed. May God bless you!
  19. Coach Euton without a doubt deserves Coach of the Year honors. She "inspired" her team tonight at half time and they came out with focus and determination in the third quarter. Granted, the girls did all the physical work but credit has to be given to Coach Euton for not allowing her team to fall apart. She has had to put up with nay-sayers, doubters, critics, and all the other experts who said this team would implode from before the season began. Pam Euton understands that there is more to coaching than just the X's and O's and has done an excellent job at keeping the girls focused on their goal.
  20. I think Owens ended up with 24 points. He is a special player and I hope he gets to play somewhere next year. Moore was the only other one in double figures with 11. I was an impartial fan tonight and noticed that BC seemed to be called for some fouls that Fairview got away with on the other end. Coach Pratt is nothing but a class act. I hate it that it has to end this way for him and his team. But, I am very happy for this Fairview team. Hutchinson was a big part of this win tonight. He is definitely underrated. Black was also a big factor. Now go and beat those Tomcats!!
  21. You seem to know the rules, what should have happened when he was over 45 minutes late? I think RH did the right thing in allowing him to be late and not default. He was the best player in this area who worked hard for years to become that way. Why would we want to win by default when Kyle was clearly the best player. If he was going to state anyway with his team, why did he show up to play the match in question? Because it mattered to him. Kids want to play the game, some adults.......??????? We should be talking about the situation that occured last night. You brought up tennis, I had to expound upon it.
  22. Since you brought up tennis, last year during Regions, Ashland's #1 player, Kyle Virgin, was way more ( at least 45 minutes) than 15 minutes late to a match with RH. By the rules, he should have defaulted and lost the match. HOWEVER, RH, the team that you say asks from other people, permitted him to play & thus allowing him to go on to the state tournament. Because they allowed him to do that, they had to watch their own player be humiliated. All I'm saying is, this is not a one way street. Concessions and requests are made all the time from all schools whether the posters on BGP are aware of them. Yes, mistakes are made, but it seems some are dwelt upon more than others.
  23. I have read this site for awhile now but had to join today because I totally disagree with this statement. Let me first state that I don't believe anyone from Rose Hill would tape a game that would clearly go against the rules. I believe that this is some sort of mix-up and all of the information is not being made available. If someone from Rose Hill did do this, then shame on them. There would be no excuse for doing this. I believe that as a Christian school, Rose Hill should be the shining example of sportsmanship, integrity, and honor. We are to be the example to the "rest of the world". The majority of people at Rose Hill have all of these qualities. It is very unfortunate that the words and actions of a few seem to "taint" the whole school.
  24. Also from the schools website: "During the 2002-2003 school year, an intramural boys basketball team was formed. Coached by a parent volunteer and David School staff the team had a wonderful experience, learning about team play and sportsmanship. The basketball team continues to play today. Unfortunately, in the absence of a school gym, the team has to travel 16 miles to practice and must play all of its games on the road. Continuing the belief that all at The David School are equal, every player gets to play in games regardless of athletic prowess and all players are supportive of each other and respect the guideline. In spite of the obstacles, the Falcons still persevere season after season." I applaud these young men for their fortitude. They are learning many life lessons during this basketball season. I have personally seen them play and each and every young man gives his best while on the floor. Some could learn from them.
  25. Amen LRCW!! Adults are supposed to be the good examples!
