picknroll Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 In my opinion it will come down to Euton at Rose Hill and Thomas at Rowan, fitting isn't it that both are playing for a championship.:sssh:

I feel the top two candidates are Coach Pam Euton, and Coach Kidwell of Russell. Coach Euton has obviosuly done a great job at Rose Hill, and I think it's amazing that Coach Kidwell got his team as far as he did without the guard play that is needed to win.

That losing record is due to the difficulty of their schedule. Yes, they're record is 11-17, but 13 of those losses came from opponents out of region.

There is no reward in a 20+ win season if you can't win during tourney time. A great coach uses the regular season to prepare his team for the tourney. I would much rather lose to Catholic or Scott Co. then beat a team like Ironton St. Joe.

I agree with you. Rowan County's coach would not get my vote... I just wanted to give a little more credit where credit is due. Rowan County's record is misleading as to how well they actually play.
lynks66 Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 The only record that should matter in regard to Coach of the Year is the post-season record. That is what coaches and players work towards. I'll take an 0-20 record in the regular season with a trip to the sweet 16 versus a 20-0 record in the regular season and lose in the regional final. That may just be me though......
Butterfly Baby Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Id say Coach Thomas of Rowan would be coy. He has done more with less than any other coach. I mean who actually thought Rowan would be playing tonight? Not me
scooterbob Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 It is often difficult for a team that is heralded in the preseason to play up to expectations. Rose Hill has done that regardless of whether they win or lose tonight. They have played a far stronger and far more impressive schedule than that played by any other region team with the possible exception of Rowan County. Before hosting the district tournament, they had played only five home games. They have carried the "bullseye" all season. Much of their success should be credited to the fine job done by Coach Pam Euton. She should be the coach of the year.
DEVILPRIDE78 Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Coach Euton should be hands down. Good coach and class act. Good luck against Rowan Co.
basketballmomcat Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 Coach Euton without a doubt deserves Coach of the Year honors. She "inspired" her team tonight at half time and they came out with focus and determination in the third quarter. Granted, the girls did all the physical work but credit has to be given to Coach Euton for not allowing her team to fall apart. She has had to put up with nay-sayers, doubters, critics, and all the other experts who said this team would implode from before the season began. Pam Euton understands that there is more to coaching than just the X's and O's and has done an excellent job at keeping the girls focused on their goal.
