Coach of the year in the 16th Region

Featured Replies

All year Pam Euton has been under the microscope. She had the most talent in the region no question but I would venture to guess that 80% of fans in this region thought that Rose Hill would self destruct, I myself wondered. All Rose Hill did was steam roll the rest of the region. I think it is time that Pam got her due for a job well done.

I agree with you Rickyp, she should be named Coach of the Year. Unofficially I think that she has been named this by BGP people. However, there is a bias against Private School/Rose Hill among coaches in the 16th Region and I would guess that when the votes are counted she may come up short. Wasn't Jeff Hall named Coach of the Year for the entire State of Kentucky one year, yet in that same year the "fellow coaches" in the 16th Region named Don Daniels coach of the year?

By the way Rickyp, what is that Avatar all about, there must be a story there somewhere?

That is a picture of the poster formerly known as AT41.

I think Coach Euton of Rose Hill and Coach Thomas of Rowan County should get Area Coach of the Year. I thought Rose Hill had the best talent in the

16th Region with Queen, Faulkner, and Terry- all Division I players. I thought Coach Euton did a good job by keeping the Rose Hill's team together though they may have had problems early in the year. I thought Coach Thomas o fRowan County did an excellent coaching job with losing 4 seniors from last year's state tournament team, but he didn't have 6'1'' Madison Furman, 6'3'' Suzanne Brown, and Casie Waltz who was supposed to be back this season but decided not to play. Suzanne Brown had like 26 points in the state tournament against Montgomery County. I thought he did a fantastic job having one of the youngest teams in the state ( 3 eighth graders, 6 fresh, 3 soph's 1 jun, 1 sen.) to bring back to the finals of the regional tournament. Though his record wasn't the best because Rowan played: Sacred Heart, Scott Co. Lexington Catholic, Woodford Co, Lafayette, Lexington Christian, and Henry Clay. If Coach Thomas would have substituted these games with other teams I'm sure Rowan's record would have been a winning record by far. I think as a fan in the 16th, I believe Coach Euton and Coach Thomas deserves Area Coach of the Year.

What is coach of the year anyway? Is it the coach who gets the most out of the least or the coach that has the most talent and wins the most games, or district/region tournament. Is it the coach with not a lot of talent and can keep their teams in every game win or lose. Tough call
