  1. In my opinion, Coach Hart is a good man, and a good coach.
  2. Here is an easy question........someone already posted that the game is at Putnam, but I was told, by someone tonight, it is at Greenup. So....is the game at Greenup, or at Ashland?
  3. Both teams sem to be struggling this season, both need to win, get some momemtum. Should be a hard fought, close game. And the "Ref crew" will be a "split crew", (see related thread).
  4. Goldsmith does love the kids and football, he's a good man.
  5. Does anybody know what's going on with the Football Officials in the 16th. area? The crews are being split up the last half of the season. From what I have seen and heard it doesn't seem to be working very well. To me, it doesn't make sense to break up the crews at the end of the season when the games mean more. Does any one know what's the reason? I have heard several opinions, such as an internal fued in the Officials Association, aimed at one particular top "white hat", and/or his crew, and the area "assignor" quitting, again, and that it is an "experiment". Hmmmm, it doesn't seem to be working. I have talked to several area refs, coaches, and administrators, they don't seem to be pleased with this. Does any one know anything? What is your opinion?
  6. This is my first "post" of the year, I really try not to. However I just want to agree with Gopher, and ask "why down talk any team? They are kids playing a game. A GAME. We all deserve common courtesy, and respect."
  7. I don't know anything about their Varsity team, but their 5th-6th, and 7th-8th grade teams are very competitive and getting better. They are doing a good job with the program.
  8. IF....Coach T. leaves.....it will surely be a loss to our school system. Coach T has the knowledge and love of the game more than any coach that I have seen coach at Rowan County..........This is his home and all of Rowan County is his family. Coach T....your FRIENDS loves you.........AND WE ALL STAND BEHIND YOU 100 PERCENT!!!!
  9. Listened to the game, Panthers soared back in the 4th quarter. Fleming County kept playing hard and never gave up. I think Rowan got a little relaxed in the 4th and playing not to lose. Give Fleming and Coach Peterson credit. Congrats on a comeback victory. Both teams played a hard fought game. Must have been a great game to watch.
  10. According to a friend in Morehead, Coach Thomas is getting a CT scan today at 4:00 p.m. Everybody that reads this say a little prayer for him today.
  11. Coach Thomas' blood results were negative which was really great. I talked to him last nite, he is still in a lot of pain, he may have a ATC scan to see if he has kidney stones that is causing him the pain. Please keep Coach Thomas in your prayers he is really having a hard time with this. He is in a lot of pain. Please pray for him.
  12. Hey everyone, I met Coach Thomas today and he had his test yesterday, Monday, he probably won't know anything until Friday. He asks that everybody keep praying for him. Keep praying!
  13. I talked with Coach Thomas last nite and he goes back in for more tests next week. He is very nervous and unsure about everything. He told me to have everyone to continue to pray for him. He needs prayer more than anything right now.
  14. Coach Troy Thomas of Rowan County has been experiencing a great deal of sickness as of blacking out and now having some prostate problems. He went to the doctor as of today. He needs all your prayers at this time that Jesus will touch him and heal him completely. Please everyone, when you go to bed every night, ask God that he will heal Coach Thomas and touch him to make him healthy again. All God's people said- AMEN! :thumb:
  15. Yeah, I heard that he couldn't play defense at all when he was at MSU. I heard that he could flat fill it up from the 3-point arc back in the day.
  16. Great game tonight at Rowan Middle School for the Lady Vikings basketball fundraiser. UK All-Stars included: Bobby Perry, Lukas Orbzut, Preston Lemaster, Larry Stamper, and Brandon Stockton. UK beat Rowan All-Stars 128-98. Great game. It was hot sitting in the stands but very fun. Coach Troy Thomas hit 11 3-pointers tonight and Bobby Perry hit 9 3-pointers. :ylsuper:
  17. Great 1st round game between Ashland and Rowan. Ashland was up 8-0 in bottom of 5th and Rowan scores 8 runs in the 5th but Ashland hangs on. Pitiful coaching decision from Rowan's coach because they didn't start Matt Martin, who beat Ashland 2 weeks ago with 14 strikeouts and Rowan's coach didn't even start Martin against Ashland. I don't understand that decision making. If I have a "stud" who had 14 strikeouts against Ashland 2 weeks ago and beats Ashland don't you think that I would start him again. You can't play Wednesday until you take care of Monday. I have no idea what the coach from Rowan County was thinking. I believe if Martin would have pitched the beginning of the game, I don't think Ashland would score 10 runs. I mean Ashland would have scored but I don't believe they would have scored 10 runs. Very poor coaching decision from Rowan's head coach of not starting your best pitcher who is going to Georgetown College on a baseball scholarship next season. Martin should have pitched the beginning of the game without a doubt, you can't save someone else until you win on Monday. Bad decision from the coaches at Rowan County.
  18. Ashland won 10-9. Rowan came back and scored 8 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning to tie at 8-8. Give Ashland a lot of credit, they were able to bounce back and get 2 more runs to hang on. I don't understand the coaching job on Rowan County's head coach. They didn't start Matt Martin in the beginning of the game and Ashland scored the first 5 runs and Martin wasn't even pitching. Absolutely horrible decision from the head coach from Rowan County by not starting Martin. Martin beat Ashland about 2 weeks ago. The way I understand it, you can't play on Wednesday unless you take care of business on Monday. Very bad judgement on the Rowan's coach by not playing Matt Martin. I guarantee that Ashland wouldn't have scored 10 runs if Martin would have pitched the entire game. Ashland would have scored, but I don't believe they would have scored 10 runs against Matt Martin.
  19. Why wouldn't Greenup County interview Coach Troy Thomas from Rowan County. He coached at Fleming County I believe 4 years and went to the state tournament in 1998 and 1999. Fleming County also went to the Final 4 in 1998 in the state tournament. I believe he coached at MSU from 2001-2004 as an administrative assistant and MSU was Co-Conference Champions in 2003 and led the country in field goal percentage in 2003 and led country in free throw percentage in 2002. I think they need to find someone who is experience and give it a new cleaning. I've always enjoyed 16th region ball and I go back in the days when Wetherby Gymnasium (MSU) was the hottest place to be to see great basketball. I think there are several coaches that could do the job. I just don't know if Coach Thomas would want to go to Greenup or not. I know he has a great program with the girls in Rowan County. Who would Greenup consider to get the job done?
  20. I heard Coach Thomas went to an elementary school fundraiser on Sunday in Rowan County and volunteered getting pies thrown at his face. I have a nephew that goes to that school. That shows you what type of person Coach Thomas truly is about helping kids all around. I happened to run into him and asked if he got an interview. He just smiled and said that it wasn't God's will. Coach Thomas has a great attitude about people. I can tell he's the type of person that cares for people.
  21. Would Greenup, Boyd, or Raceland consider Lady Viking coach, Troy Thomas, to be a head boys coach at one of these schools. If I understand correctly, he was Lake Kelly's boys assistant coach 4 years when Fleming County went back-to-back state tournament in 1998, 1999 and played in semi-finals of state tournament in 98. I think Coach Thomas was administrative assistant coach at MSU from 2001-2004 and during that time MSU was co-conference champions in 2003 and led the country in field goal % that year and in 2002, they led the country in free throw %. In 2004, I believe he was on staff with Kelly Wells and the Ky/Indiana All-Star team when Chris Lofton played. Of course, these schools may already have someone in consideration. Your thoughts????
  22. Even if Coach Thomas didn't get the head coaching job, I think he would be an awesome recruiter/assistant coach. I guarentee that he knows high school coaches all over the country plus he is so energetic and relentless. MSU should hire him as an assistant coach because I know he could recruit all over Kentucky knowing all the high school coaches.
  23. Daily Independent did an article on Coach Thomas 2 years ago about playing with Kentucky Wildcats (Barnstorm Tour) when he hit 9 3-pointers in a game. Not much defense I'm sure but pretty impressive. 135 3-pointers his senior year only is a lot of 3-pointers. He probably hit more 3's than a lot of teams combined.
