All In
Will one of the 5 worst teams in the state improve any this season with an easier schedule?
Lil hound pup
I know I am new to this All In but why such the interest in beating on Bracken Football. From what I seen it looks like they have a pretty good handle on things when it comes to re-vamping a struggling program. With Coach May handling the 5th and 6th grade team with over 30 players, Coach Breeze with the 7th and 8th grade team with over 30 players, the flag football teams from Kindergarten up to 4th grade going on it looks like things are rolling. I talked to Coach Breeze at the Manchester game and he told me they pulled out of the NKY youth football league last year and started two middle school teams and played an independent schedule last year. Now this year they are playing independent again and the 5th and 6th graders are playing in a league with the Mason co 5th and 6th graders. Going from 22 players 2 years ago to over 60 players in the middle school alone is pretty impressive. Give em a chance All In I think just from talking to this guy it looks like they are building from the bottom up pretty good.
kydlineguy
Hey All In, why are you so derogatory about the little bit of success that Bracken has had? Are they going to win their district, probably not. I mean Bracken can be succesful. I believe it was in 2003 they were just a win away from making the playoffs. Do you feel they will never compete? Why do you have such angst about their ability to become a competitive football program?
Beechwoodfan
The people of Bracken Co. have always been so nice. My son played against them and said the kids on that team were always very great sports. It is so tough to begin a sports program, but Bracken Co. did so with their heads held high. It had to be tough being on those first few teams and lose all the time. Looks like they are starting to see some well-deserved success. I for one, hope they continue to improve and succeed. I with the other people, I really dont get what you have against Bracken County because in there one win all you did was try to tear them apart, and now this... O.K. they were not one win away, that's a bad stat on my behalf, sorry about that. But they did post a 3-7 record, and had a district win! So winning is not impossible at Bracken County. HT721
Will one of the 5 worst teams in the state improve any this season with an easier schedule? Teams aren't always measured in wins and loses, how you play the game means the lot and any kid with the nerve to keep coming back for more deserve respect because they play for the love of the game. You can't measure someones heart in wins and losses so it is almost impossible to say there even if a such thing as a bottom 5 in a game like high school football. OldVeteran
I don't know anything about their Varsity team, but their 5th-6th, and 7th-8th grade teams are very competitive and getting better. They are doing a good job with the program.

kydlineguy
I just remember they beat Dayton. So If I am correct, the district would have gone as followed NCC Beechwood (Out of these two, I can't remember who won the district that year) Holy Cross Ludlow Bellevue Bracken Co. Dayton But still futurecoach, you and I can agree that Bracken Co. is not a hopeless situation.
SportsGuy41017
Will one of the 5 worst teams in the state improve any this season with an easier schedule? Sometimes a new and or struggling program benefits from scheduling teams they would be more competitive with than teams they know that will beat them soundly. What are you considering as improving? You can improve in a lose as well. The important thing is that the players are learning and having fun.
Panther8404
I don't think the problem at Bracken is ever going to be talent, it is going to be getting that talent on to the field. Small schools often struggle with this, Bracken has had an especially tough time getting quality numbers out for practice and friday nights.
