Not at all and I never said that, I was referring to the individual poster's take on salvation and my perceived definitions of his thinking. This person tends to define things, such as what is conservative, salvation, etc., so I can have my definitions. One can have convictions and relent IMO.

The definition of conviction is a firmly held opinion or belief. Doesn't exactly should like something one could relent from.

 

So if the poster truly believes, as is stated in the Bible, that the only way to enter heaven is by excepting Jesus as your savior, he should lie to make someone feel better? Admittedly his presentation could have been softer but the Bible instructs Christians to spread the gospel.

What about the prohibition of religious tests for political office? That is a foundation for separatists.

I don't see how. This ruling has zero impact on how the church recognizes marriages, whether same-sex or hetero, that are performed outside the church, and it's not forcing the church to perform these marriages.

If myself and a Hindu individual live our lives by the same morals, are good and loving to others and are both genuinely sorry when we screw up, do you really believe God will say, "Sorry about your luck?". I don't. I know that's not a viewpoint that's popular with most Christians, and I'm okay with that.

If myself and a Hindu individual live our lives by the same morals, are good and loving to others and are both genuinely sorry when we screw up, do you really believe God will say, "Sorry about your luck?". I don't. I know that's not a viewpoint that's popular with most Christians, and I'm okay with that.

 

I agree. On one hand, we fundamentally talk about how great, loving and forgiving God is. But on the other, we are told by fundamentalists to believe that most of the people in the world are born into situations (based simply on where they live) where they will have no opportunity to receive salvation. And forget other religions, there is a lot of ambiguity among the various Christian religions, as to how to achieve salvation.
