June 28, 201511 yr I would take some of this reasoning in better faith if the same folks who are zealously against same-sex marriage were even more zealously against other sins explicitly acknowledged in the Bible. There are dozens of directives in the New Testament against greed and the love of money, but protesters don't flood the halls of our governments to prohibit the accumulation of wealth. If the government allowing gay marriage is going to bring about the apocalypse or God's wrath, then surely the rampant amount of greed in this world should be even more offensive to God. All of these are excellent points/questions, and as I said before, people both inside & outside the circle of Christianity can be very selective in their application of the Bible. Regarding the greed discussion, I think the reason some Christians don't "flood the halls of our governments to prohibit the accumulation of wealth" is because accumulation of wealth does not always equate to greed/a love for money. Greed and love for money can afflict those with a lot, those with some, and those with a little.

The people of Samaria must bear their guilt, because they have rebelled against their God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to the ground, their pregnant women ripped open. Hosea 13:16 Such a fascinating book. Full of deaths and rape. I'm 100% glad this book doesn't dictate my life.

I'm 100% glad this book doesn't dictate my life. I defer to someone who speaks the Truth on Sunday. The Bible is like a perfect puzzle, if you just look at one single piece by itself, its like your looking at a middle piece and determining how the whole picture is supposed to look like without seeing the finished product. I just thought of that analogy!! Right here at Mcdonald's it just hit me. I may throw it in my sermon in a few hours.

The SCOTUS ruling will invite God's wrath upon America. Same religious arguments they made against interracial marriage 60 years ago. The reason why your ridiculous argument has no merit is because you are arguing based on religion and not law. Christianity is a religion not a political party. So quit using it as such. Let your christian beliefs dictate your own life not somebody else's. I would argue that every law ever written in this country requires that one set of beliefs be imposed upon a different set of beliefs. Sometimes I am glad that happens and sometimes I'm not. But I'm not sure why people of faith get singled out for imposing our beliefs on others. That happens with every single law--one set of morals forced upon another.

I am all for interracial marriage as long as it is 1 man and 1 woman. God created free will for individuals to choose.

If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again. But he is not allowed to sell her to foreigners, since he is the one who broke the contract with her. And if the slave girl's owner arranges for her to marry his son, he may no longer treat her as a slave girl, but he must treat her as his daughter. If he himself marries her and then takes another wife, he may not reduce her food or clothing or fail to sleep with her as his wife. That happens with every single law--one set of morals forced upon another. Yes...and no. I wouldn't say all or every law is necessarily designed around a specific set of beliefs. Sure some of them are seated in or mentioned in biblical references. But I would say our laws are as much designed to keep society in "order" and that people can live and function freely without preventing others from doing so. The main problem with basing all of laws on one set of beliefs strictly based on religion, (in this case Christianity), is that not everyone in our country is Christian, nor are they required to be. Part of the foundation of country is based on freedom of Religion. When mixing a variety of beliefs..approx 30% of this country is non-christian..., it is in my opinion wrong to base all of our laws on a religious foundation. And while I'm Christian, I'm not of the belief that I need to convert or spread the word to the "uniformed". I also hate the idea of telling someone that they have no chance at being "chosen" because they follow a different God. I'd like to believe that if we treat each other fairly and equally and be good and kind to others, my maker will recognize me as deserving when my time comes.

You might want to read your bible about salvation. You are speaking about Man's expectations of you, not God's. Salvation is something different.
