June 28, 201511 yr so said these people knocking on the Ark. You crack me up. :lol2: You just got done saying that God views everyone as equals, which is what this Supreme Court ruling ruled. Yet somehow the Supreme Court ruling that everyone is entitled to the same equal rights is going to bring about God's wrath? Seems to me you're talking in circles.
June 28, 201511 yr They might be financially conservative; however, they are not socially conservative if they believe that gay marriage should exist. That's according to your definition of conservative. I know this may come as a surprise to you, but your definition of conservative isn't necessarily the true definition of it.
June 28, 201511 yr Author Read it again. The list was awful because it doesn't fit into what answer you were looking for. However, it is the reason why gay marriage should not exist. I would take some of this reasoning in better faith if the same folks who are zealously against same-sex marriage were even more zealously against other sins explicitly acknowledged in the Bible. There are dozens of directives in the New Testament against greed and the love of money, but protesters don't flood the halls of our governments to prohibit the accumulation of wealth. If the government allowing gay marriage is going to bring about the apocalypse or God's wrath, then surely the rampant amount of greed in this world should be even more offensive to God. I'm sure many would argue that the invocations against greed and the love of money in the Bible are merely cautions for Christians to consider as a personal matter and to make sure they are not serving two masters, thus who is guilty of being a slave to money is their own struggle, nothing for the masses to concern themselves with. But that reasoning could apply equally to "sexual immorality." Why is it that one is treated as an introspective matter and the other is in need of the government to stamp out? (And why are other sexual immoralities, like adultery, not treated with such fervor?)

Marriage has 2 individuals joined together - not 1.
June 28, 201511 yr That's according to your definition of conservative. I know this may come as a surprise to you, but your definition of conservative isn't necessarily the true definition of it. I understand that many believe that conservatism is founded upon individual liberties - which gay marriage would be considered one. I get that. However, this is why I am at the 99.9% spectrum of conservatism. You might understand it better if you took one of those tests for yourself.

(And why are other sexual immoralities, like adultery, not treated with such fervor?) I agree with you. There are hundreds of sins perpetrated in our country that are swept under the rug. As I have stated previously, our country just fell another couple of miles into the abyss following the SCOTUS ruling on gay marriage. When will the fall stop? This country must come to grips with its moral and ethical status first.

Nope, not sure about you, but I don't need to take a test to tell me where I am politically.
June 28, 201511 yr Those of us against gay marriage do not hate gay people. Some of the most influential people in my life were, or are, gay. Right...
June 28, 201511 yr You think it is messed up because you don't take time to read it. The horrible battle you posted about earlier is about purging the land of evil. The enemy is MAtthew that we are to pay for really doesn't mean your enemy in battle but more a social person that you consider your enemy. The Bible is like a perfect puzzle, if you just look at one single piece by itself, its like your looking at a middle piece and determining how the whole picture is supposed to look like without seeing the finished product. I just thought of that analogy!! Right here at Mcdonald's it just hit me. I may throw it in my sermon in a few hours. Please, it's just you justifying evil deeds committed by servants of god. Deuteronomy 22:23-24 If within the city a man comes upon a maiden who is betrothed, and has relations with her, you shall bring them both out of the gate of the city and there stone them to death: the girl because she did not cry out for help though she was in the city, and the man because he violated his neighbors wife. such a book of piece this bible...
June 28, 201511 yr And my point is that I am seeing many conservatives do the same. I understand your point now. In post 194, by starting out with the word "no", it did not make sense to me. I see where you are coming from now...not saying I agree with it but understand it now. If you say your conservative friends feel that way, I cannot say I disagree with you because I don't know your conservative friends. My point is that the left who are ok with gay marriage are in general going to be much more apt to think those against gay marriage are homophobes than the right who are OK with gay marriage (like me). Anyway, we have beaten this dead horse:)...

June 28, 201511 yr Nope, not sure about you, but I don't need to take a test to tell me where I am politically. Your choice, but you do not have an understanding of the spectrum.
