June 30, 201511 yr You sound like you know the Bible pretty well, so I was wondering how it came to be considered the "Inspired word of God"? I really don't know it that well. I attend Sunday school and Church regularly and have read much of the New Testament and lessons from the Old. Regrettably I haven't read it cover to cover.
June 30, 201511 yr I'm trying to figure out how your response to rjs4470's question was an answer. His topic of kids growing up under different religions was pretty clear. Your response hinted at, but barely addressed it. It's a great question and one that I personally struggle with. Personally I believe you can either accept Jesus as savior or reject Jesus as savior. The question is, what if you have never been exposed to the gospel. Most other religions (Islam, Hindu, etc) recognize Jesus as a person/profit but not the son of God. So in that case they are rejecting Jesus as the savior of the world.
June 30, 201511 yr They can move I think that was the problem in the SCOTUS case. It would be the right thing for the clerk to change jobs/careers

June 30, 201511 yr They can move Yep they move because a clerk is defying the law. Clerk needs to be gone and right away.

Making it even more difficult is the many sub types of Christianity. Catholic, Baptist, Methodist etc all offer up somehwat different paths. What make one more right (or wrong) than the other? And again, to my previous point, the one you choose isn't really so much of a choice...it largely depends on your parents and the particular flavor of Christianity they followed and taught you to follow.
June 30, 201511 yr And so can those pathetic clerks. See I think that is just as bigoted as anything else.
June 30, 201511 yr I'm trying to figure out how your response to rjs4470's question was an answer. His topic of kids growing up under different religions was pretty clear. Your response hinted at, but barely addressed it. This is one of the most difficult questions to answer so I am going to give you my three answers that differ but it is the best I can do. 1. They are lost because they never knew Jesus Christ nor had their sins forgiven (possible truth but does not jive with my belief that God is both loving and also Fair) 2. God knows what they would have done had they been exposed to the truth and judges based on his knowledge. (This seems to be more consistent with God's greatness but still seems to be a little unfair to me). 3. God judges them based on their actions, integrity, and devotion even if they are ignorant of him. (Seems fair but does not jive with things that the bible says. I do not know which is correct but I think that one of the three are. I also want to make it clear that if indeed people born in an isolated areas or only exposed to a non-western religion end up in heaven, it is still because of what Jesus did on the cross.
June 30, 201511 yr Tolerance vs. Pride? Spat on by parade-goers, Catholic priest has this message | Fox News “The two men who spat on me are probably very good man (sic) caught up in excitement and past resentment,” he wrote. “Most in that parade would not do that.” He dismissed their act of ugliness as simply being caught up in the moment. “Oh well, I deserve worse,” he wrote. In a way it’s a modern-day parable – those who preach tolerance are the least tolerant of all. But Father Jonathan demonstrated that he not only preaches tolerance – he practices it. A lesson for us all.
June 30, 201511 yr For those that are deriding the clerks, do you hold the same animus for Jack Conway who refused to do the job he swore to do when he refused to lead the appeal of the KY law? He did that based on his personal belief and in defiance of his job.

Baptist and Methodist are very similar. The differences include the way you are baptized. Both believe that Jesus was the son of God, came to earth and died for our sins. Both believe that to enter heaven you must submit yourself to Christ. There is a much bigger divide between Christianity and other religions such as Islam etc. Are there things I can't answer or understand? Certainly but that is why it's called faith.
July 1, 201511 yr Soooo … I was at Lake Cumberland all weekend and went out of my way to be isolated. Did I miss something?
July 1, 201511 yr See I think that is just as bigoted as anything else. Why? Because I think government employees who refuse to do their job should leave instead of the people wanting to get married. Yeah so bigoted...
July 1, 201511 yr What? The Lord, in my humble opinion, has nothing to do with this. I believe in Evolution. Homosexuality is an inherited trait. (Yes, I know, we haven't found the gay gene.) I would say that a gay couple raising a child with love, respect, and compassion is closer to Christ's message than the hillbillies I see yelling at their kids at Target. How can someone living in SIN be close to the LORD!
