April 2, 201511 yr He will not be missed, at least by me. Kentucky finishing this great run is going to be so much sweeter because it's knocking him off the top line.
April 2, 201511 yr Uncle Bob, flip off the lights on your way out. It will be interesting how surly he gets in upcoming interviews now that he's off ESPN's teet.
April 2, 201511 yr I think ESPN let him go after he refused any interviews on this UK run and '76 IU. Probably wondered what they needed that narcissism for.
April 2, 201511 yr Great coach. Interesting person: has some great qualities and some lousy ones. Terrible TV guy.
April 3, 201511 yr One of the handful of greatest coaches ever. Had some great qualities that rarely came out or were demonstrated to the public, not that he cared. He was next to horrible on most games, but every now and then the genius would come out when he explained what had just happened on the court. Good Bye Bob
April 3, 201511 yr I wonder how Bench feels about it. I think that 90%of there posters in this thread have zero credibility or objectivity when it comes to saying anything about RMK. That being said, he was awful as an announcer. Completely agree with @Jumper_Dad though, there was always the 2 or 3 times a game where he'd say something and you were like, dang, this guy sees things in a different level than anyone else. Those moments were fun. But they weren't enough to make him an entertaining voice on the telecast.

He was next to horrible on most games, but every now and then the genius would come out when he explained what had just happened on the court. Good Bye Bob I actually liked him because of that. In a timeout where a game is coming down to the last play, it was nice to hear him talk about what the coach is trying to set up, what kind of options they want, what he'd do, etc. When he was doing that, he was really good, and I liked hearing it. People can say what they want about him, but he's a guy who has won a ton of games and forgotten more than most of us know about the game.
