Michael "Bulldog" Drake, aka Purplehaze, has passed away. He was and always will be Mr. Bowling Green Purple. A true fan of the game and an avid Purples fan!

He loved and respected all the teams in the Bluegrass. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Feel free to post a reply, letting us know what team you represent for Mrs. Purplehaze, I'm sure in time she will read these posts.

I had the pleasure of having a personal relationship with Michael, great man who loved Bowling Green, sports, and BGP. Many may not know, but he contributed a lot to BGP behind the scenes to help make the site a better place. He will be missed.

Prayers from Raceland.

Prayers from Fort Thomas. Sad day. God Speed, Haze.

Sad day indeed. Prayers from spindoc and family in Crestwood.

I did not know him as others of you did, but it's obvious he had a tremendous impact on this site & in the lives of so many people.

Lifting a prayer now.

Michael was a unique man who encountered many physical obstacles but kept a positive attitude on life. He has a deep passion for Purples Football and it brought him great enjoyment to be around what he referred to as "The Program". I think some of his best moments have been the times that have included interaction with BG players. He and his wife, Mrs. Purple Haze, always had a smile and positive words for our players and opponents as well. Today, I'm sure he's looking up former Purples in heaven to share stories with. Leiah, our thoughts and prayers are with you! RIP Bulldog!

Michael was one of the few BGP'ers that I've had the pleasure of meeting in person, and he and Mrs. PurpleHaze were the first ones I met. I would always note where he was on the sideline in his gold jersey when we were at the El. The Bulldog and I shared a love of researching results and history for the schools here in this area, and much of what I have compiled was built on the backbone of what he had tirelessly accumulated. A great football mind and a great man. He will be deeply missed.

Sad, sad day for the BGP family. RIP to PH and to Mrs PH, you know your BGP family is there whenever you need us...

He will truly be missed. Prayers to his family as it has truly been a tough day for them.

Once a Purple, Always a Purple! Rest easy, Bulldog!!!!
