LionEagle
How long will he stay at KCC? This program needs stability not someone looking for the next job. Hope JPC plans to stay for awhile for the people of Hindman's sake.
Watusi
No disrespect intended when I say this. Why would John Chapman be interested in this job?
LionEagle
Maybe he just wants to return to being the head man after assisting at Perry for a couple seasons.
LoneRanger
I'm gonna step out on limb here and say he is taking it because he feels he can make them competitive in new region realignment: District 7 – Breathitt County, Estill County, Knott County Central, Magoffin County, Morgan County, Powell County District 8 – Bell County, Casey County, Corbin, Jackson County, McCreary Central Perhaps he sees an opportunity? Or could be a spot to be head coach until something else comes along... But that just doesn't seem right. Lots of jobs open if that is case. NEERFAN
The name rings a bell. Is Chapman a former Breathitt player?
Watusi
That was his son, NEERFAN John Paul Chapman has been a coach in KY for a long time. He is highly regarded as a defensive coach, but controversy has followed him. His defenses at Breathitt County were very good during their championship seasons. Last season he was an assistant coach at Perry County Central. Former head coach at Pike County Central through 2013 Former assistant coach at Breathitt County under Mike Holcomb for 2 stints Fomer head coach at Pikeville

They deserve some success and it would be great to see them be more competitive. :thumb:

Only 2 quality programs in that list and both have seen better days. KCC's basketball run is coming to an end also, now is the time to get in the football program at Knott. Watusi
The gap is really wide, I don't know what it would take for Knott to become competitive but they have a long hard road to get there. It is going to be a struggle and not many coaches are going to have what it takes to ride it out, if it ever happens. They lost their district games last season by a combined 165-12. The new district is tougher as they add Powell and Estill and lose the only district opponent that Knott could reasonably expect to compete with, Jackson Co. It is just not an attractive job, and can't imagine why a successful coach like Chapman would want to take that on.

gchs_uk9
Has anyone had any success or consistency at Knott since Jay Cobb? Haven't had a winning season since 1996. Have had 1 four-win season and 4 three-win seasons since then. Have never won a playoff game, but during the Cobb years they averaged a 7-point loss in the postseason. Since then, they've lost six playoff games by an average score of 54-5.
