The rumor around town was that Neal was going to talk to Coach Smith about becoming his DC. To date nothing has come of those rumors.

No way that Chuck Smith leaves Boyle UNTIL after he has completed the years he needs in public school to get a full retirement from the state.

Jaggers has resigned at LaRue.

Yep. Forced out but yes, he has resigned.

That was always the answer to the rumors whenever I heard people talk about it.

you got it Purple. Lets just say after he left UK & before he took the job @ Boyle I had a lengthy discussion with Coach about what it would have taken to get him to come to the program I was associated with @ that time. First thing mentioned was his years left till retirement from public schools before he would even think about returning to coach in college (unless the college was a KTRS retirement school)

Forced out indeed. And seeming like a pretty raw deal.

As a DC at a DI-A program, the salary value of being there for 3-5 years is equal to the value of 12-15 years of retirement checks...if he is offered the position, there is no way he passes.

Chuck Smith will ALWAYS be able to come back to KY and teach/coach...his window for making big money grows smaller by the day.

Very good point. If he went to Troy (or anywhere) for a period of time, he could always come back to Kentucky and teach/coach 3-5 years and get into the retirement. The question may be if he even wants to do that.

Not all districts will honor his sick days. That was a big issue before he worked at Bardstown two years ago. A lot of places wanted him to coach, but the districts would not give him credit for all the days he had accumulated previously. That is a huge factor when you think about retirement. It's not worth it to sacrifice those days for a mid-level Division I job.

Every other teacher in the state lose their accumulated sick days if you do not work consecutive years. Not sure why Smith would be any different, but maybe he is.

Some districts will honor the days, some won't. It's a district decision. It makes a huge difference towards retirement if you have a lot of accumulated days.

That is some crap. I don't know what some of these schools are thinking.

What's that? 16 and not even Christmas yet? Wow.

Thing is, I don't believe a single one of them are due to coaches moving onto other jobs (coaching), either.

Most of those jobs are terrible. McCracken may be ok

Thanks, Harry. If I'd had to pick, I would have said you or gchs_uk9 were going to be the one to post this. :thumb:
