We don't all have the luxury of picking who we get to educate.

Heck, Trinity can't be too picky if I got in:idunno:

What's the story behind the guy leaving Green Co.? He's only been there 2 years.

Heard this a few days ago. He had the full support of the principal and AD, but because he wasn't willing to move there the super forced his resignation. Par for the course with 5th region schools. I got this from a current Coach on staff.

Is Green Co the same place that a couple of years ago let the HC go after one year? If so the guy even moved and bought a house and they shafted him.

Chris didn't resign on his own.

DH said everything I've heard as well.

No. Before Engstrand was Mike Griffiths. Native there. Had been there a while. Still in the school system as an admin at their freshmen academy or alternative school...one of the two.

If they were clear about their expectations up front I don't see the problem. Small communities want coaches involved. If you're not willing to live there it sends the message you're not invested and just waiting for the next best thing to come along.

Or the housing market sucks and moving would require your spouse to drive even further to work.

Harry thanks for clearing that up

Engstrand has been several places recently, was at Fairdale for what 1 season? Can't act surprised if the admins feel like there isn't a strong commitment being made. Actions speak a lot louder than words in an interview, though they should've been aware of his history from the start.

Shouldn't that apply to their administration as well? If I am not mistaken the Green County superintendent's wife works in the Hart County school system. I believe he lives in Green County but at the same time it's okay for him to have someone who doesn't live in the area of their employment but just not his football coach?

That would be nepotism wouldn't it? She probably can't work in the district.

Amazing isn't it?

Now, I will say this..per nepotism laws, she couldn't be hired into the Green County after he was hired as the super.

Nonethless, it's amazing the double standards. Especially considering when one job is considered nowhere near "as important" as the other in the grand scheme of things. :sarcastic:

I'm not sure how nepotism exactly works.

Just up the road in LaRue County where a similar situation happened, their Super's wife has a central office job and it the head of Nutrition/Food Services or whatever the appropriate name for it is for the entire district. And, I THINK she got that job after Sanders got his Super job. I could be very wrong on that timeline, though, so don't quote me. I can find out, though.

Even so one would think he'd be more sympathetic to a similar situation. I'm thinking it would be disappointing to him and his family if his wife was let go because she didn't live in Hart County. At the end of the day that is his choice and he has to live with it. If the reasoning behind Engstrand resigning is his home address then I really hate it for him and his family. I'm also glad that other school systems are more lenient with their coaches and their home addres. I can think of worse reasons to let someone go.
