JokersWild24
What's the criteria/criterion? A) How good the player was in the Sweet 16? B) How good the player went on to be? If it is "A", then Antwain Barbour's 2000 Sweet 16 EASILY gets him on the 2000s team. As good as Tony Key was, Barbour was better. If it is "B", then Mayo is a 2000s team LOCK. He's in the NBA. And if Billy/Bill Walker was on the roster of the Rose Hill team which went to State, then Walker gets on the team, too. Criteria A is what I'm basing it on. Crimsonfan1
There were a couple of excellent players on the 2000 Iroquois High School Team that lost to Scott County in the Quarterfinals. 5'6 Point Guard DeShawn "Moonie" Bowman and Anthony "Wooda" Johnson. They both went on to play at Motlow State JC. Johnson if I recall correctly was 9 of 9 from the field in the Scott County game.
Sandman
Patrick Sparks - Mullenburg North Chris Lofton - Mason Co. Michael Bush - Male Larry O'Bannon - Male Coric Riggs - Fairdale Elisa Justice - Shelby Valley O. J. Mayo - Rose Hill A. J. Slaugter - Shelby Co. Darius Miller - Mason Co. Pretty good list. Also, a lot of good names already mentioned by others. What about Knowles from GRC? I really liked O'Bannon and Miller for what they did on both sides of the ball. But, Miller may miss the cutoff just a bit for the best of him.
ColonelCrazy
I haven't given this much thought, but I can assure you I'm taking Lonnell Dewalt on my team. In the 2004 state tournament, he had 54 rebounds which is the 8th most ever. Westley Unseld (Seneca) has the top 2 performances: 72 & 88 rebounds in 1963 & 1964, respectively. JR VanHoose is 3rd with 69 rebounds in 1996. VanHoose also had 53 rebounds in 1998.
sweet16
Criteria A is what I'm basing it on. Then Barbour is easily on this team. And I see that you have him on it.
Sun Tzu
What about Knowles from GRC? He was listed. Toughest Exclusions: Ross Neltner, Highlands (2001): Not a flashy name, but he had a solid career between LSU and Vanderbilt and was a Kentucky Mr. Basketball. He fills a position of need at the 4, especially when we’re talking about the defensive side of the ball. His bulk will give him the edge here over a more versatile and offensively capable junior Justin Doellman. Larry O'Bannon, Male (2001): Starter on a Final Four team at Louisville, but the team is loaded at the wings with Barbour, Miller, Smith, Mackey, and Hopson. Of those, only Mackey and Barbour didn’t play at least some in the NBA, however they were rated higher as recruits, so I’ll give them the nod. Maurice Hampton, Russellville (2001) – Jr.: Not tons of depth at guard, and he may be a better pick than Spillman or others. Quietly had a great high school career, including 3 trips to Rupp), and went on to play at Austin-Peay. Preston Knowles, George Rogers Clark (2007): Not tons of depth at guard and he earned his way at Louisville. Maybe he would be a better answer if you look for help at the point.
