Did it say he ran down the street or are you just making that up?

One thing really not mentioned is, if someone is on the hood of a car with the driver accelerating to the point where there life is in jeopardy, how challenging it would be to place 3-4 accurate shots.

Your taking a shot from less than 5 feet away at a target that is moving in concert with you. Gun was probably less than a foot from the windshield if I was guessing.

If I remember correctly from when I read the officer's report earlier, I thought it said something that he thought she was impaired and since he knew there were people walking in the street down the road, he didn't want to let her get that far.

 

I could be wrong though as I quickly read the report about 8 hours ago while in class. If I have that wrong, I apologize.

 

In regards to what I posted above the report reads "the shots were fired not only to save his life, but also the pedestrians walking on the road and the officers currently just down the road initiating other arrests."

I want to believe this cop I really do. But to me from the video and witness statements it looks like he shouldn't have ended up on that

hood. From the article I read it seemed like he had called for backup so he knew he had help coming. From what I read multiple cars were en route. What was his urgency in putting himself in front of that car or on the hood? That being said even if he did make a mistake in judgement I will never ever believe he wanted to shoot her. I will always believe he felt his life was in danger. Like many have said its just sad.

After reading the report, I'm thinking the department is going to be shelling out a chunk of cash in a civil suit.

Fact of the matter is, you should never drive drunk, like she did and has before. When a cop asks you to stop, you stop. So sad for someone to lose their life at only 19, but in this case it was completely preventable.

When did they release her blood alcohol level?

If the officer is not charged criminally but Boone County is sued in a civil case and ordered to pay the family will they dismiss the officer?

Pure speculation but I say no.

So we're assuming the car went a good distance in reverse correct?

It went into reverse until it ended up in a ditch which stopped it's progression. Just by going by the time that the car left the picture in the video to when it came to a stop where you can see smoke, I'd guess it traveled a decent distance down the road, around 100 meters or so?

Was she drinking under age? Then that is criminal activity.

 

If we shot and killed every underage, alcohol drinking teenage kid that ran from a field party, this would be a town of old folks. These field parties happen quite often and usually end up broken up by the BCSD with no major incidents. This was just a night of bad decisions that did not have a positive outcome.

I haven't heard it, either. However, I will say this...regardless of what it comes back at...there will be people who say she still didn't deserve to die, even if she would've been slobbering, totally impaired, fall-down drunk. It seems there are people who are definitively one side or another. And you're going to have a near-impossible chance of convincing them to change sides.

I don't think she deserved to die, regardless of her state. It takes a lot more than disobeying an order from an officer, or driving drunk, for me to think a teenager deserves to die.

 

I also don't think the officer wanted or intended for what happened to happen. He found himself in an awful situation, regardless of how he got there, and did what he thought best to stay alive.

 

As others have said, it's a sad unfortunate event, that based on his report, seems ripe for a civil suit IMO.
