March 19, 201412 yr When you have kids, and if one of those is a daughter, revisit this thread when she's 5, 10, 15 and let us all know if you feel the same. Never a truer statement. I don't consider myself a fan of violence. I would do anything possible to protect my kids including shooting someone and I hate guns.
March 19, 201412 yr That's a risk I'm willing to take. There's no way I'd be able to live with myself if I killed someone who wasn't armed. No chance. I'd much rather die trying to peacefully resolve a situation with an armed individual than murder an unarmed innocent person. JMO. Im Speechless for once. Nice to know you are like that. But that wont save your family if a violent inrtuder gets in.
March 19, 201412 yr This situation is a little different but if a stranger is in my house, uninvited, I ask questions later. Me in jail is better than me dead or my family hurt.
April 4, 201412 yr The latest on this: The family of the deceased wants the girl charged with accessory to murder or involuntary manslaughter for denying she knew the boy. Family of Texas teen shot dead by girlfriend's father wants her charged after she snuck slain boy into bedroom - NY Daily News

April 4, 201412 yr A tip for any late night boyfriends, just say yessir and I'm leaving and do just that. If he tells you to wait until police arrive, do just that. If he yells at you, remain calm and take it without arguing. Was the boy at fault? For being in the room he knew he shouldn't, sure he was. Not saying for a minute the boy deserved to be shot. On the contrary, seems with as little info as we have here, a cascade of stupidity caused a teenager to be killed tragically. It's a real shame. Also not remotely saying that the daughter doesn't have some culpibility in this either. Takes two to tango. It's easy to say what we would have done in that circumstance, and perhaps we are right, but this man (according to the first account) couldn't simply walk into the room because of his disability of unknown etiology at this point. If it becomes acceptable for every father that finds a teenage boy in his teenage daughters room to shoot and kill the teenage boy, well then I feel like we're probably going to have a lot more dead teenage boys.... No reason to bring a gun to the room from what I'm reading.

April 4, 201412 yr You can't charge the daughter and not charge the father... How does that make sense?
April 4, 201412 yr You can't charge the daughter and not charge the father... How does that make sense? If the father comes in and she claims she doesn't know a strange man it changes the situation A LOT than if she said I'm sorry daddy this is my BF etc...
April 4, 201412 yr If the father comes in and she claims she doesn't know a strange man it changes the situation A LOT than if she said I'm sorry daddy this is my BF etc... Even if it's proven she did know the kid?
April 4, 201412 yr From what we know of the case that makes the most sense...I'd go with involuntary manslaughter for her and nothing on the dad if I were the prosecutor and/or grand jury I'm not a lawyer but I don't see any way she is charged.
April 4, 201412 yr Let's be realistic here. He did not sneak in; she let him in. Same difference. He was not in the house with the fathers blessing or knowledge and he knew he wasn't supposed to be there...thus he snuck in the house. With her help, sure...but still snuck in all the same.
April 4, 201412 yr How does the father not know who his daughter's boyfriend is? Because apparently, she's a sneaky little thing! :sneaky:
