I was thinking the exact same. He would be stepping into an already established powerhouse. I would imagine he wants another coaching job anyways.

Not sure but I think he only played 1 yr at Campbellsville and transferred to NKU to finish. I remember him in one of my classes at NKU.

 

Not sure if he graduated from there but he went right out of high school in 1990 and is listed in their media guide record book from one of the longest catches in 1994.

This seems to me like it is one of those jobs where it makes the most sense to hire from within.

 

The Highlands culture is not like anything else found in KY. I'm not sure an outsider could walk in there and grasp it. I would think the head coach of such a program should have a very deep rooted appreciation for what makes the Highlands machine tick. He needs to have the connection with the JFL coaches and program, boosters, administration, parents, etc. What better person to continue that tradition than someone who played there and has been coaching there under the most successful head coach in the program's history.

Anyone that's been around HHS and has common sense knows Weinrich is the next head coach. Lickert may get a formality interview but Brian is a seamless hire. There will be no drastic changes but maybe his own personal touch to the already successful system. Not to disrespect Steven, but Weinrich has put his time in and had success.

Coach Weinrich is the co-head coach of the team. So, if the other co-head coach stepped down wouldn't that automatically make him the head coach without further action being necessary?
