No, but there was some method to it. SI is still a pretty big publication and he knew it would get front page attention.

To be fair, Broussard listed out several other sins (adultery, fornication, divorce, etc.) as being equal. He wasn't brought on air to talk about Lebron's kids out of wedlock.

 

Not saying I agree, but it's not fair to say he singled homosexuality out.

Broussard is an extremely conservative and religious guy. I've seen a lot of people bashing Broussard but the man was asked a question that virtually everyone knows the answer to and then get outraged with his response.

If you read Broussard's entire quote I don't see what he said that was so crazy?

why apologize? If you can't handle guys with Christian worldviews, you should screen better before hiring them. Better yet, if you hire them, don't ask them the question when you know what you're gonna get. Dumb.

While I agree people shouldn't be outraged at a devout Christian's views and answers to questions I do think that had we seen him balance his beliefs by being asked about his most favorite player ever and his sins then maybe he wouldn't have been bashed so hard.

Sure. Why not? ESPN asks questions irrelevant to the topic to appease people who have a dissenting point of view everyday. They build televisions shows around that very thing. First Take, Around the Horn, PTI, Rome is Burning. They are a smorgasbord of irrelevant questions.

I remember what locker rooms were like in HS, and have seen said environment at the higher levels. Let's just say that maturity is not in abundant supply with a group of top-level male athletes who have been overly coddled their entire lives. They are, after all, playing kids' sports.

 

I think we give pro athletes way more credit than they deserve by thinking their work environment is somehow going to be exactly like the rest of ours, and that they are going to act like a gay co-worker is "no big deal." Especially since most of us work under sexual harassment policies that keep us in line, and we don't have to shower with our co-workers.

 

Do you honestly think somebody is going to be worried about being sexually abused, or fondled in the showers or locker room just because their teammate has come out that he is gay?
