Out of all the things they've made newsworthy about this, here's the only one I really care about. Since Collins isn't an all-star big man by any stretch, what's the outcry going to be if he doesn't get signed to a team this offseason. I know big guys usually always find a way onto a roster, I mean there's a reason guys like Nazr and Magloire were still playing. BUT, seriously, Collins wasn't going to be at the tops of too many GM's free agency wish list anyway. Soooo, if he doesn't get signed are people going to point out that he didn't get signed because he came out and admitted he was gay? Or, will people be educated enough to realize the guys a 34 year old journey man who may not have made a roster regardless?

Do you honestly think somebody is going to be worried about being sexually abused, or fondled in the showers or locker room just because their teammate has come out that he is gay?

I think he'd have a VERY tough time proving a team or teams didn't sign him because of his homosexuality. He's been in the league 12 years already, and averages only 3 points and 3 rebounds a game. Very easy to justify not signing him, IMO.

I respect a good teammate, even if he doesn't play a lot of minutes. Some folks have said that Collins would bend over backwards to help the guys in that locker room.
