Kroger Deli Bistro is very good. We will carry out a couple of meals, and there is always left overs to munch on later.

....except Remke's fried chicken kicks the butt of Kroger fried chicken.

 

I've heard this as well from more than a few folks. I'll have to check them out.

I think their taco's are okay. They're not worth a 2 hour wait, but they're not bad. The chips & guac & queso are delicious. Margaritas are very good, too.

 

I go there for "brunch" on the weekends from time to time. Typically walk right in, sit at the bar, have a cocktail or two and then order. It's not bad when you don't have to wait, but I am not interested in waiting 1+ hour to eat there.

The perks of knowing 2 of the bartenders there is you never have to wait.

Love Southern Smoke BBQ in Newport. Opened about a month ago. They make their own sauce daily and the only cook for the current day. Really fresh. Great stuff.

 

Trying it now. Got pulled pork for the kids and brisket for me.

Southern Smoke was OK at best. Meat flavor was good and seasoned right, but the sides I could do without. The sauce was awful-way too sweet for me. The next time I want BBQ and I'm in Newport, I'll just make the extra 10 minute drive to Eli's.

Yeah. Considering lack of foot traffic in Remkes, I'd be careful.

I know it's a chain. Buca di Beppo is running a great lunch deal. Huge Chicken parm sandwich, cup of soup de jour, and nice salad for 4.95! Has to be the best lunch special in town.

In case any of you were wondering how the pork was at ELI's today. This was a nice lunch a buddy and I had down there.

 

2 Pulled Pork sandwiches with slaw, creamy mac n cheese, Jalepeno cornbread, baked beans and jalepeno cheddar grits.

Spare ribs and slaw on the side.

 

I even got to put on an old ELO LP and listen because I was one of the first ones there.
