Moeller (OH) 34 St. Xavier 27

Maybe the center snapping the ball over the QBs head has been a problem and that's why the run was called on third down. And everyone knows that if the X QB lines up in the gun with a spread line it means QB draw, not pass.

I heard that Moeller had a big lead and took their foot off the gas. Any truth to that?

No truth to that. Somebody was wearing green colored glasses with that remark. X outplayed them big time in the third and fourth quarters. Moeller had their starters in the whole game. They were Really lucky to hang on. X's play calling after the onside kick once again did them in Watkins being out in he second half may have helped equalize things but the backup was a shifty fireplug that was tough to find and bring down. Watkins is the real deal.

Terrific game. St. X came back valiantly after being down 31 -10. Moeller is huge and played extremely well. The X drive late in the 3rd quarter which cut the lead to 31 - 17 was their best drive of the year. Walker, Davis and Percell were all huge conributors in the second half. The X team that can become a real factor was shown by the 19 rushing attempts in the 4th quarter. They were going against a huge team and really took it to Moeller. Hats off to Moeller! They are big, talented and disciplined. Their 6'5" and 6'6" wideouts and tight end are difficult to defend. Even with good coverage they were able to go up and make several great catches to keep drives alive. Their safety is even 6'6". Great effort by both teams.

Unbeliveable how these Cincinnati teams get skyscrapers for receivers.

Not this year. Gahaefer isn't a scrambler unless everything completely breaks down. He looks to though opposed to Mattingly looking to run. And no they played the same way all night, run the 1st 2 downs and complete a pass on 3rd(sigh).

They were not a contender last year.

I think his point is valid. Should be a much better game than many expected between T and X.

It should and i expect one. Last year's squad couldn't compete with T and that was very obvious. If the squad can learn to do the little things right, they will be dangerous.

Its the play calling every game that puts them in these situations.

Their size was definitely relevant on every 3rd down completion. a 5'11-6' corner v the 6'6 tight end with probably a 30-40 lb size difference killed us. Also Percell didn't see action until the 4th qtr which was also perplexing.

Read about the game on Louisville Catholic Sports website. Sounded like a exciting game especialy the 4th quarter. It sounds like a X team that can run the ball and passes effectively enough to keep defenses off balance.

What is hard to stomach is how their defense is playing. Typically, their defense is very solid, but the past couple of years there seems to be quite a few more holes in their plan. Can anyone shine more light on the defensive situation of the X-Men?

Sounded like a great atmosphere and great effort from the Tigers. If they can build off this game they'll give the rocks all they want and then some.

Much like T, X's secondary definitely needs work. Its like they play timid, besides clemons. They are always caught out of position and then they don't tackle. Also Broyles and Bauscher are rarely in at the same time(two dts). Bauscher-300lbs; Broyles-285 lbs
