I think this touches somewhat on the remark I made about some adults being attracted to children. There is no natural law that states that men cannot have sex with women under the age of 18 - particularly when we all know darn well that there are 15 and 16 year old girls that could pass for 25 these days, and vice versa. Our laws on legal adulthood, and moreover, our laws on pedophilia are based in some sort of moral code. So where does the moral code start? ...and where should it stop??

All three of the first three commandments are sins without negatively impacting anyone else.

I definitely wouldn't say "because of this." In fact, this is the reason the Catholic Church has always taught that truth exists in many extra-biblical writings. So there are more sources for discerning God's truth, not less.

 

Now, I am also of the opinion that biblical writings are a product of a place and time. Over the centuries, some things that were very important to us have become not so important. The story of Christianity is the story of how Christ's followers lived with the fact that He didn't come back the next week.

 

Personally, I'm doing the best I can with the information that's been put in front of me. To paraphrase Thomas Merton, I don't know what I'm doing, but I believe that the fact that I want to please Him, pleases Him.

This is a great answer. That chart is nonsense because all of it's conclusions lead to either agreeing with it or being called names. Its Biblical conclusions are slanted to favor a particular point of view and its logic is circular.

 

I have no problem with people who are homosexual because I truly believe that it is not simply a lifestyle choice. For whatever reason, these people are hard-wired from birth to be the way they are. Homosexual people are not evil. That said, homosexual acts are certainly contrary to the way God intended.

Ranking sins is what creates a lot of our misconceptions about God's view of it, IMO. In other words, sin is sin and ALL sin is offensive to God, even the "little ones".

I am pretty sure all of the divisions which make up the Eastern Orthodox Faith do also along with Oriental Orthodox Faith. Some of the more conservative Anglican/Lutheran and a few of the Presbyterian faiths do a also I think. Traditionally the congregationalist faith do not.

With all do respect. Multiple things on this "poster' are incorrect. The NT is not referring to prostituion or molestation, God did not make Eve in order to populate the Earth, and the Bible clearly states that multiple wives and concubines is a sin.

Sure, but like the laws, we tend to pick and choose which ones we think are important and others we think are hogwash. However, regardless of what we think, there are consequences if we are caught breaking them. Same for sin, the wages for which are death. Of course the last little ditty is scripture, in it's full context requires salvation thru the penultimate sacrifice of Christ for our atonement. So, before we make any stretches or put words in my mouth, I didn't say we should put sinners to death. What scripture tells us is that all sin must be covered by Christ's blood. Without sacrifice, there will be no remission of sin. Christ paid that one.

 

I suppose the laws here, however gleaned from Christian ideology, can be broken without consequence if no one is around to catch you. However, that can't be said of unrepentant sin. I am thankful that the police aren't omnipotent, omnipresent. I'd have lost my license many years ago.
