If your temper causes you to sin, say you lash out at someone in anger, how do you deal with it? Should you repent of it, pray about it, and try your best to avoid that in the future? Or do you shrug it off, say "I was born with the temper", and hope God will give you a free pass on it?

 

You guys can't be serious w/ comparing losing your temper and homosexuality. I mean, really? If you lose your temper, and you hit someone, you have injured another human being. If you marry another man, how have you negatively impacted anyone else?

Cool. I don't really care what one thinks. I just don't think one can rationalize it to make them feel better about the person they're talking about.

 

You either think homosexuality is a sin or you do not - saying it isn't but it is if you act is not supported .

Maybe this will make sense. I'll use this logic (maybe oxymoron for this topic) and see if some of you agree. I was born to love women. As I've gotten older, I have found that even the women I would have thought only moderately attractive when I was younger, I find more attractive now. I enjoy sex with women so much that I just can feel like it's sinful to have sex with as many as I can. I'm married, but my desire for women still is something I'm born with. It's in my nature. It was good for Solomon, why can't it be good for me? I don't think that scripture can really place a parameter on my lifestyle because I was born to love women. As many as I can while my equipment is functional.

All three of the first three commandments are sins without negatively impacting anyone else.

Yes, it does. The institution of marriage is a man and woman being 100% committed to each other and living within their faith, whatever that may be, even if you believe in no God. Is it less because two men or two women make that commitment to each other? Can't believe that it is. The New Testament is about redemption and love. If you truly love another individual and fully commit to them, what is sinful about that?

Mex, with all due respect, that's not scriptural in the NT (yes, redemption and love are expressed in the NT, but so are the things we are instructed to avoid). And if that faith is rooted in the Bible and Christianity, that's simply not true.

 

And for the record, I believe that 2 people can make committed relationships to one another outside of a sexual relationship. They're called friendships. Some of which are far better than some marriages, I'm sure.

Those that agree with the chart as it is, how are you any different than those that don't believe in gay marriage or the act of homosexuality? Aren't you being, judgmental? Don't others have a right to their opinion without it making them sexist, chauvinistic, xenophobic? How does agreeing with homosexuality or gay marriage make you a better person, more civilized?

I'm a terrible Catholic, I guess. I don't believe much of what the Bible says as truly the word of God. I like the rituals and the community that they create. I like a lot of things, however, knowing all of the politics that went into forming the Bible, I can not take it as the true word of God. If that was so, then so many books wouldn't have been eliminated. That Council of Nicea impacted the New Testament that every Christian faith uses. So, if I live my life, and dedicate my efforts to God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, and I live correctly, and I don't make it to Heaven b/c I questioned the validity of those who selected the books that dictate much of our faith...then I guess I won't make it.
