UNDERTHEBRIDGE
I was wondering if anyone had updates. Last I knew, 0-0 second ot period. Been a tight one or so it sounds like. Two very good teams going against each other here.

NamecipS
Have to like the 'Birds chances in a shootout, the goalie's been solid all year.
UNDERTHEBRIDGE
I'd agree, not to dog any of the Lex Cath goalies but their starter has been injured half the year with a torn ACL and I believe this may be the girl's first shootout of the season and maybe high school career. UNDERTHEBRIDGE
Congratulations to the Highlands girls, they took the game all the way to a Sudden Death shootout where Lex Cath finally succumbed making the Lady Bluebirds the State Champs for 2005. Hate to see the Lady Knights go down in such dramatic fashion but this season definately proved to be a great year for them and they really made an amazing run late in the season to get here. No reason to hang their heads.
bluethunder
Congrats to both teams on outstanding seasons. What an exciting way to end the championship game. Rachael Redmond comes off the Birds bench w/o playing a second in the game and kicks the game winner. Hats off to the entire Bluebird team on winning the school's first ever state soccer championship!!!
Three Lions
Congrats to both teams on outstanding seasons. What an exciting way to end the championship game. Rachael Redmond comes off the Birds bench w/o playing a second in the game and kicks the game winner. Hats off to the entire Bluebird team on winning the school's first ever state soccer championship!!! How can a player come off the bench after a game has ended to participate in a shootout unless the shootout went past 11 shots per team? Last I knew, the players that ended the game were the ones that HAD to participate in the shootouts. Has this rule changed? DAVE

All Play No Work
There has to be a better way to decide a State Championship. Somehow the players on the field for 110 minutes should determine the outcome of the game, by actually playing the game. Could you imagine if this happened in football or basketball? Gunner11
DAVE, The rule has changed. Anyone on the roster, on the bench or field can take PK. It did used to be that a PK taker did have to be on the pitch at the end of the match.
