  1. No report to be made. Monday was inside, no practice yesterday. They will be practicing the rest of the week.
  2. Go through an Independent Insurance Agent. A good one would have told you to get a bid on your own and then call back if you decide to file a claim.
  3. Extremely sad news being reported by CJ-young man passed away this evening. God be with him, his family, and the PRP community.
  4. As an educator I agree 100% with finding a way to test kids as they enter and leave each year and that is how the school is judged. I would also like it if CATS was tied into graduation; I bet you would see scores go up across the board in a lot of schools.
  5. One for sure was the tear-away jerseys. As a youngster at that game I can still remember the Belfrey running backs coming to the sidelines with just a few strings holding the jersey together. I'm not sure of the other one.
  6. Caught a 2.5lb'er on a jitterbug last week. Had my son with me and he was as excited as me when the bass hit it. First bass on a surface lure and it was awesome.
  7. high school=cut grass College-cut grass, substitue teacher, babysitter, gave plasma, Kroger-State Street warehouse, officiate little league basketball, tried betting the ponies for a living-lasted about a week, ComAir After college-Teacher-present job-14 years: while teaching summer jobs included cutting grass, Executive Transportation, summer school teacher
  8. What about KEES money. Doesn't the GPA determine the amount of money the student recieves? So a 90 at one school is an A and they recieve X amount of money but at another school a 90 is a B and they would recieve less money. Is that correct??
  9. If is a big word. What happens to the students who don't get that kind of job? With the way our economy is going how many employers are going to stop offering that benefit? When I graduated from high school I knew of one employer who would pay for your college education and that was the armed services and I was denied entry to any because of my asthma. I don't have a child in high school yet so I don't know how well the high schools educate the students on the jobs that will pay for some of their tution.
  10. There is no doubt going to college now and in the future will be and is harder than it was 10-15 years ago. I paid my own way to NKU, 91-95, and tution when I was there was between $650-$850 per semester for as many hours you wanted to take. I lived at home and cut a few yards to pay my way. I just looked up tution now and it would cost me $1600 a semester if I wanted to take 12-16 hours. I'm just thankful that I don't have to go through it now and have been saving for my children's college for years.
  11. I read where each plantiff recieved approx. 750.00. There were 30 plantiffs and I know my math isn't that great but that comes out to 22,500. Does attorney get the rest??
  12. I question it to but once that child's in my classroom I can only control what I can and have to "play" with the cards I'm dealt. As for retaining students I believe that you can only retain a child once in the primary grades(K,1,2,3). I have also sat in ARC meetings where the recommendation was to hold the child back and the parents said no. BTW I'm all for holding students back if needed.
  13. I'm a teacher and have no problem with merit pay as long as each child is tested every fall and spring as they go through school. Example, I teach 3rd grade and I have a student who enters my room reading on the first grade level. I raise his/her level by the end of they year to lets say, 2nd grade 6 months. Over the year I've increased the childs reading level by one year, 6 months and while IMO that's doing a great job by the states standards I'm failing because that child is not reading at grade level and my pay is decreased or stays the same. Another problem with Merit pay is that not every child starts school at the same level. I'm at an elementary school that is a Reading First school and we test kids in the fall and spring and I can tell you that students entering kindergarten come in way below preschool level much less where they should be and you would be shocked on how much students "forget" in the summer and have test scores in the fall that are lower than the spring on the EXACT same test. Is that the Schools fault? BTW we also have a transient rate of 30%, how to you calculate kids entering your school from different schools, states, countries?? And..... I wouldn't trade my job for anything and knew exactly what I was going to make and while I would like to make more money, who doesn't, have no complaints about my salary, health care and state retirement.
  14. Simple way to reduce demand, reduce the speed limit to 60.
  15. Congrats to Ashley on selecting UofL. She will be a great addition to the UofL family. Coach Walz and staff get an early commitment from one of the best in KY and are quickly taking the program to a different level. Looking forward to great things from the Lady Cards. :ylsuper:
  16. Marvin Stone passed away over in Saudia Arabia during a basketball game. Got info all Scouts. com/Louisville. RIP Marvin.
  17. that was offensive goaltending......
  18. I'm in education and have paid back over 15,000 in grad loans, made the last payment last month. Do I need to send my bills to Hillary to get reinbursed? What a joke!! Next thing you know she will propose that all homeowners who can't make payments because they can't budget their money will not have to make mortgage payments anymore.
  19. They draw to draw first. They then have the district winners draw and after setting the winners in the brackets they then draw the runner ups.
  20. NDA is my favorite to win the region. Playing very well right now and have played a challenging schedule.
  21. You are correct. I have seen her make those shots on many nights, last night just wasn't her night for shooting the outside jumpshot. IMO HHS needs Nat to make some of those shots for them to win the region.
  22. I couldn't believe that when I read it also. They play 10 times, HHS wins at least 8 of the 10. The game was good but once HHS took the 8 point lead in the third NCC couldn't get anything going. Very physical game inside. I really like the Tabor girl from NCC and the frosh guard is going to be a good one. With what NCC has returning they should be fine next year. It's hard to believe that this will make the second time in three years that NCC hasn't made the regionals. As for HHS they are a good team but in order for them to be great Horner has to be able to make the outside shot and last night she didn't. Horner making shots opens up the middle for Adler and Towes and also gives Allen some freedom.
  23. Monique Reid should win but we know that girls from Louisville usually don't win Ms. Basketball. I have seen Gibbs, Novesel, Rickets, and recently watched Reid and Reid is the best in Ky. this year.
