  1. Four words summed up this game.. Bigger, Faster, Stronger, Better. HHS had no answer down low in the second half against Drees and Dickman. Dickman powered herself to 3 offensive rebounds on foulshots that resulted in 6 points. Second half ND got the transition game going and got several baskets off tournovers and just beating the birds down the court. For 2 quarters and 7 minutes the Birds were in this ball game. Down 4 with a minute left in the third and ND outscores them by 3 to take a 7 point lead which was huge. I felt if Highlands could keep in under 4 they had a slim shot of pulling off the upset. Tiereny had a great second half, struggled from the foul line-I lost several in the lights with that high, I mean high arching shot. Overall the better team won tonight. Positive for HHS is that they return 37 out of the 39 points scored tonight and got a taste of what it's like to play in a regional semifinal game. Work hard this summer girls and you will be a team to reckon with next year. Good luck ND tomorrow night.
  2. Don't understand the question... Like I said it will take a perfect game for HHS to win but you should know the favorite doesn't always win. I can remember someone last year stating that Boone would win the Region three strait years and that Nell wouldn't let her team be beat... Want to take a quess who said that??
  3. This game hinges on how Highlands can handle the high-low game ND loves to run with their post players. Talent wise HHS is not that far off from ND but physically ND has a huge edge. Seniors and juniors going against Soph's and Frosh is a bigtime advantage. Dickman, taking a guess might be 18, going against Highlands Frosh center who is probably 14 IMO is just too much for Highlands to overcome. It's going to take a perfect game from the Birds to win this game. Keep it close going into the fourth quarter and hope the pressure of being the favorite gets to ND.
  4. I need some #'s for the lottery tomorrow, any insights. :thumb: Predictions for Friday night? ND and will Holmes beat NCC
  5. Wow!!! Did not see this happening after what Conner did to Boone in the district finals. Anyone have details??
  6. You need to get over it MRB that games over... ND will beat HHS because they have better/older players. They could play a zone and beat HHS by 20. The question is will HHS try to run with them or slow them down and try to keep it close going into the 4th quarter.
  7. Me too. I would have never mouthed off and gestured the way the players did tonight, Hummel would have T'd up half the players tonight. My favorite was Ernie, he would carry on a conversation with you through out the game.
  8. I think they had a timeout left but after Simpson caught the ball he was in enough open space where Willie probably thought that he could get a decent shot off from three. One play didn't lose this game so I don't want to get wrapped up about one play. I haven't been to many boys games lately but there has to be better officals than the ones they had tonight. They were bad both ways. Also the amount of talking between players and officals after fouls and nonfouls was a little excessive IMO.
  9. Don't know if I was watching a basketball game or a football game. Very physical. Back and forth game throughout second half. HHS had shot to take the lead but missed with 6 seconds left, fouled NCC. Made both foul shots with 4.8 sec left. Simpson recived inbounds pass around three point line in backcourt and took it to the hole and made the layup as time ran out. Must have thought they were down 2......
  10. That is correct. Tuesday night games have Conner-Holmes and NCC-Dixie.
  11. Conner must have played a great game to beat the Rebels. Just looking at recent past boxscores seems like Boone hasn't been playing their best ball lately.
  12. Think the Birds shot 55 percent from the field and went 18-18 from the foul line. Alex Adler, (jr) came off the bench for 16 pts and 12 rebs. Katie Allen led the team with 18 and played a great floor game. Rest of the starters had solid games and made the open shots when they took them. Highlands led by 20 at the half, NCC cut it to 16 in the 3rd and then Highlands pushed back to 22 and it stayed around 18-24 the rest of the way. Great game by the ladies. The young Birds are coming of age.
  13. IF it was raised during the process it should have been done in front of everyone. IF something is not being done right, STAND UP and voice your conerns. They are all educators, I'm sure they could have pointed out the mistake without embarrassing them. I know the person that I spoke too who was at the draw told me nothing was said to the group. I wonder if they would have taken it to the commish if they would have gotten a favorable draw??
  14. NO one complained about the draw at the time. It was only after the draw the teams complained. If they had a beef about the way the draw was going to be run they should have voiced them when they saw the brackets BEFORE the draw was actually started.
  15. The only thing different from this draw and every 36th district draw in the past was the brackets were wrong. They could have played the tournament the way it was BUT one school complained about the brackets and the number of pills used. You are supposed to use 8 pills while they used only 5, one for each team. This is the same number of pills every other school in the district used when hosting the district tournament. This compalint was coming from ONE school who wanted to get a better draw. They didn't.
  16. If the player deserves a one game suspension what does the offical who doesn't make the intentional foul call get? Bottom line, if the official would start calling this it might make the players(boys and girls) stop these types of plays.
  17. I don't know of one coach in the 9th region who teaches their players to intentionally hurt another player.. Why wasn't an intentional foul called?
  18. I see no problem with the kids getting a PE credit for this class. I'm sure they do more physical exercise in that class then the regular PE class does.
  19. I would replace Reinstatler and Sester with Sonny Miller and David Bibb. Defense I would add Jerry Scarlato at LB.
  20. I'm not judging Coach Slone. She will do what's best for Tamara and the team. I think every situation is unique but I wanted to bring up the question as a general question not specifically tied to Newport but I did a poor job in doing so.
  21. ATHC as a coach do you give a player who isn't sure if they want to play a deadline or do you allow them to come back on the team when they are ready?
  22. Crowley is hurt. Towles the frosh had 16 pts and over ten rebounds by my count. Crowley will hurt them early on but by the end of the year this team has the potential to be good. Last nights lineup consisted of two frosh and three 10th graders. Off the bench Coach played another frosh, 2 10th graders, 2 juniors, and 2 seniors.
  23. Where do you think Jack falls on the list compared to the other players from Holmes? I had the pleasure, displeasure at the time, to play against and guard Jack in High School. A man among boys his senior year. I watched Beal and Schlomer play and if you include after High School I would rate Jack ahead of both.
