Technical foul question

Campbell’s JV coach just got T’d while walking to the Locker room for halftime. Beechwood’s team is already walking off the floors. Are these free throws supposed to be shot before halftime starts?

As you just saw, before 2nd half clock starts. Watched the whole thing unfold, ref had rabbit ears and should have been on way to locker rather than staring down coach 30 feet from him. Bad for the game.

What was the point of contention?

Campbell player got hacked across both arms as he tried a buzzer beater heave from behind midcourt. No call and ref (instead of leaving court) kept eyeballing coach until he said something about 10 secs after horn and team was on way to locker.

The refs don't run off the court at halftime like they do at the end of the game. They get the ball, bring it to the scorer's table, make sure the possession arrow is flipped, might make sure the scorers are in agreement on score and fouls, and start the clock for halftime if it hasn't. Not saying the ref was in the right but they do "linger" at halftime for a reason.

Great point and thanks. This ref made no steps toward the table. Eyeballed the coach rotating to keep watching him until he called the T, then folded his arms and continued to eyeball coach 30 feet away as he continued to locker room. Power trip for all to see.

I believe though that the Technical foul would be considered a 1st Half Technical foul. I only mention this because the 2 free throws would then count as first half points. The possession arrow was pointed to Campbell County. They way it played out, the two techinical free throws were shot and the Beechwood was granted possession starting the third quarter.

Just a curious situation.
