The Professor
His successor? Jason Mays, my nephew, has been name interim coach. He was Happy’s assistant at Georgetown College for 7 years, then took a break and did other non-sports jobs for a few years before getting back into the game as an assistant at Valdosta State University the past two seasons. He joined Happy’s staff at Kentucky Wesleyan this year. I’ve known Happy since the early 1980’s. He’s a great guy and great coach. And fun to be around. I played golf with him once and he took his shoes and socks off and waded out into 10 inches of gooey mud and hit a ball that was balance on top of a dried section of mud, all in order to save a stroke in a $5 match. He’s a competitor to the core. He played in our local invitational golf tournament last June and I hope he’s back again next year. Wireman
Maybe back to Georgetown? I don't know but it's hard to imagine Happy not coaching if he's able to. I know one thing, I will sure miss him if he is in fact done.
