1.6A: Scott County (5-2):

The Cardinals continue dominating their opponents, this time it was Henry Clay’s turn at defeat as Scott County blew by the Blue Devils 57-28. The Cardinals had yet another 400+ total yardage game as they piled up 431 total yards of offense against Bryan Station. At this rate, no one in the state of KY might not be able to stop the high powered offense of Scott County.

2.2A: Lexington Christian (7-0):

LCA’s winning streak continues up to 7 straight games. The Eagles defeated the Midldlebsoro Yellow Jackets 76-28 on Friday. Not only do they continue to win but they also continue to pile up yardage, 489 total yards against the Yellow Jackets. Can Somerset slow down this offense train? Friday night should be a better ball game than what we’ve been seeing.

3.2A: Danville (7-0):

The Admirals came within inches of losing their first game of the season on Friday but Danville was able to pull it together and pull out a thrilling come back win over Tates Creek 27-24.

4.3A: Boyle County (5-1):

The Rebels had the week off to prepare for district foe, Garrard County this week.

5.3A: Western Hills (5-1):

Western Hills didn’t have a problem running past Washington County last week as they defeated Washington County 50-20. This week gets tougher as they face Lexington Catholic in a big district showdown.

6.3A: Lexington Catholic (3-3):

The Knights had the week off to heel some nagging injuries and give their players a rest before facing #5 Western Hills in what should be nothing short of a thriller.

7.6A: Frederick Douglass (5-1):

Frederick Douglass hasn’t had any problems putting away opponents since their season opening loss to Danville, as the Broncos ran past Bryan Station 27-6 on Friday.

8.5A: Anderson County (5-1):

Grant County was no match for the Bearcats as Anderson County came out on top 43-8.

9.4A: West Jessamine (5-2):

After suffering a heart breaking overtime loss to Taylor County, the Colts bounced back and picked up a nice win over Marion County, 35-12.

10.6A: Tates Creek (4-2):

The Commodores came within a TD (needed a TD to win) of upsetting #3 Danville on Friday night in a losing effort, 27-24 in a game which Tates Creek lead most of the game including having a 21-7 lead at one point.

TEAMS ON THE RISE:

5A: Madison Southern (4-2): Madison Southern had the week off last week.

6A: Madison Central (3-3): Madison Central was off this past week as well.

3A: Powell County (2-4): After starting the season off 0-4, the Pirates have won both district games in convincing fashion, defeating Magpffin County 50-12 and Knott Central 71-44. The Pirates put up 566 total yards of offense against Knott Central.

TEAMS ON THE DOWNFALL:

4A: Franklin County (3-3): The Flyers defeated on Shelby County area team 30-3 (Shelby County) but fell hard to the other Shelby County area team, 45-7 (Collins).

6A: Henry Clay (2-4): After picking up 2 straight wins, the Blue Devils were dealt a big blow by Scott County 57-28. The good news? The Cardinals shouldn’t really be concerned with their next two opponents, Dunbar and Station.

4A: Mercer County (4-3): After starting the season off 2-0, the titans have lost 3 of their last 5 games, all within striking distance.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:

Justin Stamper (SO RB Estill County) the sophomore running back for the Engineers carried the ball 32 times for 226 yards and 2 TD’s against Breathitt County in the losing effort 36-22.

GAMES OF THE WEEK:

#5 Western Hills at #6 Lexington Catholic; Western Hills and WanDale Robinson is bringing that explosive offense into Lexington Catholic in a district game that will probably determine the district champion. Not to mention, Western Hills has yet to beat Lexington Catholic since the re-alignment.

#3 Danville travels to Somerset on Friday to take on the Somerset Briar Jumpers in what should be a thrilling game. Danville comes in undefeated 7-0 while Somerset is rockin’ a 4 game win streak and have won 5 of their last 6 games.

Boyle, LexCath and Western Hills will be 1-3.

One player will not beat Lexington Catholic or Boyle. When it's all said and done the district champion will be settled on October 13th. at Rebel Stadium.

Come to think about it, there is a ZERO % chance those 3 teams can go 1-3 in a 4 team district and if that happens the KHSAA has some explaining to do.

Should have an easy game again this week vs Woodford County from what I’ve seen of them so far.
