  1. With all due respect to Coach Combs, he IS NOT out on the field making the plays to win the ballgame. It does not matter who the coach is. The players still have to make the plays.
  2. Heard it about 209740947238 times while covering the Meade County-Nelson County game last weekend. Drove me up a wall, but what can you do?
  3. I've never seen Fort Campbell play. And I've watched Fort Knox several times over the past two seasons and know there's really no comparison when it comes to the two teams. But if you ask the kids, this is one game they really look forward to each year. Fort Knox knows its not on the same end of the spectrum competition-wise, but they have fun with this game. Just talking to some of the Fort Knox players since the season started, they are ready for this game.
  4. UK won't host it because 5 years ago during the KMEA State Marching Band finals (go ahead and laugh...get it out of your system) the field was torn up all over and they didn't take too kindly to that. Since then, nothing but UK games has been hosted there. And there's really little chance of the state finals for football ever getting that field again. EDIT: LT Smith is a really nice stadium now. The renovations look nice and the field is turf. The new home side of the stadium looks great, too. Players will love playing on that field just as much as U of L.
  5. The annual Army Bowl is back at Fort Knox this season. I've heard festivities are planned all day Friday, with soldiers coming from Fort Campbell and a bunch of higher-ups in the military coming. Who wins and why?
  6. UK can't beat Bama at home, no less. Just an opinion...
  7. No way they go to Penn State-Purdue, Auburn-Vandy, FSU-Miami or AZ State-Cal. I could see them going to Oregon-USC in the wake of USC's loss, and I'm not sure about them going to tOSU-Wisconsin, especially after the Badgers lost today.
  8. Not quite. If this stands up, my top five would be: 1. Oklahoma 2. LSU 3. Alabama 4. Missouri 5. Texas
  9. But if you're down 16 or so, you've still got a shot to make a comeback. And constantly running the ball (and the clock) when you're in that situation isn't usually the best way to go.
  10. Just got back from the game and all I can say is wow. Meade County had its way with Nelson's defense, running up, through and around the Cards. It's a scary thought to think about this team if its passing game was right there with the ground game.
  11. Yeah, but he isn't on the field playing. Danville by 45.
  12. People should be outraged about this? ... Wow.
  13. Counting your eggs before they hatch, are we? And I hate to bring this up, but JH state championships: 0. Trinity/Highlands: 34 combined. Granted those two programs have been around for a while, but win a state title or a few before you're considered the "best" in the state. When it comes to being the best in the state, JH has a LOT to prove.
  14. ... Wow. I'd have raised all kinds of hell if I was one of those coaches or the white hat.
  15. The only time I've seen a WR do this, they ALWAYS look at the ref to make sure they're OK with the LOS. That may not be what you're talking about, but I have rarely seen an official call anything when a WR does this.
  16. Tigers worst loss since a 60-0 setback to Boyle County in 2002 following the state championship in 01. Breathitt beat Bardstown, 50-0 in 2004's first game. Other than those two instances, I couldn't find any time when a team scored 50-plus on the Tigers in the last 11 seasons.
  17. I guess the thing that surprised me more than anything is they were in the other three games. This one? Not so much.
  18. The margin of victory is what surprised me with this game, not just the fact that JH won. I figured the Dawgs would win, but to put up 63 on any Bardstown team is pretty impressive. And yeah, I know the Tigers are young on the lines this season. But they do have some talent on both sides of the ball.
  19. King didn't play because his grandmother had died.
  20. I didn't either. They were up 21-0 in the first quarter and 49-7 at half. It was just a long night for Bardstown.
  21. I don't think ANYONE thought JH would score that many on Bardstown. And title, I think it may be a little of both. No disrespect intended to the Tigers, because I think they're a class organization and have been for several, several years, but they just couldn't stop the ground game. But at the same time, it really hurts when you turn the ball over on your first two possessions and your opponent converts those into touchdowns.
