  1. I was checking the Ky Mile Split sight for some track info and it says on that sight that Drake ran a 14.26 100m dash? That can not be right. The same sight shows that Devin Bruns ran a 12.64 100m time. Does the track site have the two brothers confused? http://ky.milesplit.com/athletes/852612
  2. CovCath's bats seem to be in quite a funk lately. Not taking anything away from the excellent pitching of HC, but it just seems the past 6 or 7 games they have not been consistently stroking the ball like they were earlier in the year. I know that had a couple big offensivie outings in Louisville, but I was told that the opponent pitching in those games was not top notch. I haven't seen them play in almost 2 weeks, are they playing too much small ball, not enough? Not a great time of year to get into a team slump, if that is in fact what is happening.
  3. Who are the likely pitchers in this one?
  4. Has Cain made a college decision yet? I am assuming he is going to play baseball and not Football in college is that correct?
  5. It sometimes is difficult to predict what coach's at the D1 level look for. Alex Connelly from CovCath was 6'4" 180lbs, had great hands ran excellent route's was the state High Jump champ. He ran in th 4.7 range, which isn't great but is decent. He is a 3 sport athlete, who if he focus his time in the weight room can easily add 20 -25 pounds to his frame. He signed with Geogetown, where I think he will excell. Daniel Gold from Highlands is another very impressive reciever who ran great routes and has very good speed. To the best of my knowledge he wasn't deluged with D1 offers. Similar things can be said about Winkler, Leonard at Dixie and a couple of the Campbell County recievers. So for Mr. Cohorn to get some looks at D1 schools is indeed very impressive.
  6. Congrats to Dylan! Good Luck in college! I had talked to his father last summer, and I had thought he might be headed to one of the D2 schools in the GLVC.
  7. So NewCath is in the running as well, good to hear.
  8. To steal a phrase from Fr. Jenkins from ND. People who are are intimidated by the expectations do not meet the high standards we set for our next Coach... Followed by.. We don't expect our list of candidates to be large... We believe the people qualified to fill this position will always be a very select few. That may not be word for word, but that is the basic message. In no way shape or form am I comparing the Football coaching position at ND with the basketball position at CovCath. I am just trying to show that a large candidate pool, is not really important if you believe in what you have to offer. No doubt that their are unique challenges that come with coaching at CovCath, just as there would be with coaching at Highlands, Holmes... or any other school where there are high expectations. Thanks to Coach L for stepping up and being the guy for so many years. Coach L is a great person and is a great representative of CovCath, and what it embodies as an instituion.
  9. Up front they have a returning All Star in D.J. Handlon and least one other starter. The question will be depth. I thought Dixie's top 12 were a solid as any except perhaps Ryle and NCC. However, in games against teams like Highlands, CovCath and Sk they wore down in the 2nd half. If they can limit the two way players to 3 or 4, with someone to give those kids a few breaks a half, I think they could be very good. Having said that don't underestimate how much they will miss MLB Ryan Zumdick and their go to reciever Bobby Leonard. Will be a critical year for Dixie, because I believe this may be the high water mark as far as talent goes, for the next few years.
  10. I know it's early but I thought HC was expecting more from this team than what it has shown so far. Am I being too critical here?
  11. Well we know two were on for Sure
  12. As I have said before High School Baseball is the most difficult game to predict a winner of any of the major High School sports. Congrats to Brady Asher who followed an excellent pitching performance against Beechwood with an excellent offensive performance against Dixie.
  13. Does this mean he has to sit out Dixie's first 7 on 7 this summer?
  14. What happend to Hayes? In my opinion he had the elusiveness that made him a game changer on Special teams. As good as Harris and Wrobleski are (and they are very good), Hayes is the player that created match up issues that are hard to account for with X's and O's..
  15. Lankheit is crushing the ball, he must have 8 RBI already this year.
  16. Jake has not played Football since his Freshman year. However, it is my opinion that he definitely could have been an outstanding H.S. Football player. When he played offensive tackle, he was excellent. He had the footwork, and the solid base as a pass blocker. He needed work as a run blocker, but had he committed himself to being a football player, I have little doubt he would have had his college paid for as well. However, as Clyde mentioned Jake had no desire to be an offensive lineman. I think he made a wise choice for his basketball future, he will get to play college basketball and a strong Jesuit college in a good size town with a climate that is quite appealing September thru May. Good luck to Jake in College!
  17. If he is eligible this gives Dixie a nice combo at WR. Peterson can stretch the field and Cohorn is a nice HS possession reciever. If their defense improves they could be the favorite in NKY 6A.
  18. Rough Start for HC. I know they have very high expectations for this team. I have a feeling however as the temperature heats up so will the Indians.
  19. OUCH!! That can be a difficult injury for a pitcher if it is his left hamstring. Friend of mind had a similar injury in College, took him a good 2 1/2 months before he was 100%. Having said that no two injuries are the same, and rehab is a whole lot better than it was 25 year ago. I hope he has a speedy recovery.
  20. Whatever happened to Studer and Football. I always remember him as as better Football player than a Baseball player.
  21. Who is the main pitcher for NDA?
  22. Best: The feeling in your gut running onto the field for a Friday night game. The shared Joy with your teammates when you won a big game. The life lessons learned about work ethic and team work. The Very Good: Comaraderie with team mates during the pre-seaon and season, especially the pool "gatheriings" after a hot and rigorous two-a-day practice. The very Funny: The conversations in the huddle and on the field among your teammates, and sometimes your opponent. the very painful: Losing the big game against your arch-rival, replaying every play in your head that could have gone differently (for years and years...) the not so good: The change in weather that reminds you of every injury you sustained, some 30 years later. The very bad: Knowing how great a time it was, and knowing the nothing else is every going to be quite like it again. the Worst: Watching your son's last HS game, knowing he now understands "the very bad" mentioned above.
  23. I remember Mr. Rogg, he used to kick his glove during his wind up. Didn't he go on to play at TMC? He was a very crafty pitcher. He didn't have an outstanding fastball or a great curve, but he knew how to pitch and hit his spots. I think it was his father who came to a game with his Police dog. Now that was intimidating.
  24. I agree 100%. If he enrolls/transfers to another school then we can discuss that. I am in agreement with RE that the general BGP public is not the appropriate place to discuss a 16 year old's personal details.
