I observed McCreary football since its inception way back when. There have been times that they have been very close to getting to a point where they could compete on a yearly basis, but lack of support or politics caused coaching changes. It is tough to get a "program" on its feet without the support of the administration and parents. I honestly don't see that at McCreary Central. Look at the facilities, the weight room is good but the field and stands are less than average. You just don't see good teams have poor facilities. I can see how kids don't want to play and sacrifice for the school, when the school won't do the same for them. I have been to middle school fields that were way better. I think that going outside the system to get a coach might help...fresh ideas. You look around and who are you going to get to take a situation like that, well there are guys who are young and hungry for a chance and you might end up being a stepping stone, but as you make progress you can get better coaches. The feeder program is not too bad but they need to get more kids involved. Then you need to keep the kids you have, you have lost some great players (and who can blame them for leaving) to other programs such as Pulaski Co, SW, Williamsburg so if you just keep your kids you can compete. Honestly it would take a complete overhaul from top to bottom to get things moving in the right direction but the politics would never allow it, remember "Raider" Rob Jones would never stand for the football team outshining the basketball team and McCreary has more history in basketball than in football. Those who will deny this either don't know what they are talking about or just don't want to be honest.

Leslie is much improved over the past few years and have speed and an excellent QB who will challenge the MC secondary, that being said MC has had a tough time scoring this season, and would not be surprised to see that trend continue...Leslie by more points than Pineville scored on MC.

Whitley will be fine. They may or may not win the Harlan game, but I can assure Cellking or anybody else, the only game they are concerned with is game one.....then and only then will they be concerned with game two....so on and so forth. That is what will make Whitley a dangerous team this year (and like years past) the coaching staff is only concerned with the game in front of them. They prepared their teams and have them ready to play. Only a dunder head is concerned with game 7 or 8 at this point.

.....and going the college route is not out of the question.

I would think it would be a short list..... Kyle Adams-Former assistant under John Smith, Head Middle School Coach Burton Richardson-Current assistant, form Head Middle School Coach John Smith-Former assistant and head coach at WCHS Josh Bowman-Former Colonel player, former UC player, current assistant David Halcomb-Current softball coach, former Colonel player All within the system now,(with the exception of John Smith) and at this late date, I think unless they go to the college ranks to get a coach, coaches from within the system may be all they have to chose from for at least this year.

Highlands is a traditional power and could compete in 6A if they wished. I dont know if they would be as productive at state championships in that class but year in, and year out they are one of the best teams in the state along with T and X and a few others. They are where other teams are trying to get to. I know they are only 3A in size, but their tradition, pride and name is well respected by everyone no matter what level they are at or would compete at. They are sort of a freak of nature, and I dont mean that in a bad way. Year in and Year out a team will have to play Highlands for a state championship or to get to one.

Ho Hum......Pretty much expected excuses. Bottom line, Whiltey made the plays and Bell didn't. Looks like Ledington got it done again. Remember it was AT BELL?!?!?!?! That kind of takes the officiating complaint out of play, in my opinion, I could see complaining if it was at Whitley. Congrats Whitley on a nice win.

I have to give the Colonel props along with Monroe County.

He is definitely all state, saw him against Whitley, great player on team full of them and he stands out.

Lynn Camp will definitely be a better football team once Wagener gets up to full speed, but does he have time to get ready by the play-offs? I did not watch this game, how was his performance? Was the hit that put the Moses kid out for a little bit the one on Sports Overtime/ Times Tribune made it sound like the Lawson kid won the district championship. Congradulations Jackets.

This game will be close if L.C. gets a few weapons back. Wburg will have a advantage playing at home. L.C. toughness impressed me last night. I hope they are healthy, it will be a exciting game.

Based on What???? Leslie is weak, but North only has one player....Wardrup, but he is a heck of an athlete. If you are on the field you have a chance to win. AND North may (like years past) may have thrown in the towel by then.

You are right, if Amis plays PCC more than likely score (maybe) 14-18, but no way does him playing change the outcome.
