Whitley Co. 47 Woodford Co. 0

Looks like Whitley is on a major roll, good luck the rest of the way!

The win isn't a suprise, but the margin is shocking to me. Whitley must have punched the Jackets in the nose from the onset.

Has Whitley Co. been overlooked all year long by the polls?

bump..

Congrats to coach Black!

Not in the Associated Press Poll. They've been rated in the top 10 in the AP Poll for most of the season. They're better than what many people think. Maybe now they'll get the credit they deserve in the other polls, but then again, maybe not.

I expected Whitley to win this game, but not by nearly this much, and to shut Woodford up none the less. Woodford has taken a hard fall since the game with JC. You have to hope they can regroup for the playoffs. Congrats to Whitley Co. on a huge win.:thumb:

I think one thing that has held them back is a weak district. People haven't put a great deal of stock in their wins, although they might be wrong in doing so.

If you look closer, they have three really nice wins (Middlesboro, @Letcher County Central, @Woodford County). They have three good wins (Perry County Central, Lynn Camp, Clay County), all at home. And they have two easy wins (Newport, North Laurel), but both on the road.

Perhaps most telling, however, is a 38-8 loss on Log Mountain to Bell County. Only one team, Knox Central, has been that close to the Bobcats all season.

I don't expect much from Whitley County in the playoffs, but I think they like it that way. Not a bad team.

I expect Whitley to win the region. All of the games will be at home and they're a VERY GOOD TEAM.

From the post above, still no respect.

Hey, now! I simply meant I don't know enough about the team personally to trust them. When you've won four playoff games in history and not one in eight years, you have no previous body of work to rely on. Does that make sense?

I think they do have a shot at winning the region. South Laurel at home is winnable, as is Pulaski County. Mercer County (if it actually is them; not playing well right now) would be tough, but they can win that game as well.

Of course a semifinal with Highlands would be a tall order...

Just giving you a hard time. Whitley plays Rock Friday, who beat Mercer 10-6, so we'll see how the Colonels stack up against the Rockets.

You've got to email me those playoff history stats again for Corbin, Whitley, Knox Central, Lynn Camp, Williamsburg and South Laurel when you get a chance.

Thats good, Whitley has not been on anyones radar all year long, no reason to change that now. They just come out every week and win. The Bell game they did not play well and did some things against the Bobcats that nobody else has done even in the loss.

Whitley could not be stopped tonight, they ran at will and scored with ease. Woodford has a nice team and soem nice athletes, they were averaging 40 points game and Whitley shuts them out, Duckworth was averaging close to 300 yards a game and finshed with just over 100 yards passing most of which came on the last drive. Let them stay under the radar and let teams look past them, polls mean nothing, respect means nothing till after the game.

Congrats Whitley on a nice win!!!

Whitley has been on my radar. I think they are a very, very good team.

True, but you are more than the an average football fan.

Jim Black has done a great job and his team is prepared every week, which may be the difference. Although I would say that they have out hit and out hustled pretty much everyone except Bell.
