Didn't understand how Ryle was ranked in some of the other early pre-season polls, and still don't get them in this poll. 1-2 with a win over Ludlow. I know they are down there at 10, but some of the others receiving votes deserve to be above Ryle.

If Owensboro is a true triple option team which I thought they were, the QB decides on each play where the ball ends up. They didn't change their play calling at all in the second half. Looked to me that HHS widen out their tackles and the QB read became the first option rather than the QB keep or the pitch which was the read in the first half.

Not true. The reason for the thread is two fold. - last year the win by HHS was discounted as beating a smaller, not very good University Christian team. There were those stating the same this year about CC. - more importantly, it originated after the posting of the email from CC Coach Merritt. It showed the class and mutual respect that the CC coaches and players had for the Birds. The show of respect was thrown right back at CC by the HHS faithful and quite a few members of this message board. It was then decided to track the rest of the season and wish CC the best. Mission accomplished on both targets.

Thanks. I know a lot of schools (over)estimate players size, but these young men look to be every bit that big. They come off the ball nice as well. Reset the line of scrimmage downfield and those little backs get lost behind them. I can see why they have success running the ball.

Looks like on film Owensboro has two big boys on the right side of the line. Who are the right guard and right tackle and what is their height and weight?

Stats, name recognition, coaches hype... all come into play. A BIG part of it would also be the coaches seeing the kids play against them. Highlands played 3 Northern Ky schools this season. That's three coaches that are voting in this poll that actually saw any HHS kids play in a game. A team like Dixie played 8, and NCC played 9 - many more opportunities for those kids to make am impression on the actual voters.

The Hoge run is #1 on the SC top ten. Nice job by the Ozone and the HHS film crew getting the footage to Bristol

IMO, the 6th and 7th grade boys' games at Conner last night were very well officiated. Both men did a great job. Also, How about the attendance at these middle school games. Amazing how many butts are in the stands. Great job of supporting the kids by parents, grandparents, and students.

So are you suggesting that Beechwood should be in the large school division because their 6th grade boys' team is very talented? What about the 7th and 8th grade teams? What about the girls' teams? You can't pick and choose where 1 team plays and penalize all the others.

Hyped that 7th grade game for you Clyde, and both teams come out and look like they never played ball before. "Wasn't very pretty" is being nice. It was downright ugly. Couple of 2 or 3 point quarters on each side. Conner went scoreless in the 4th until 1 second remaining when they threw in a 3. HHS broke it open with a 12 point explosion in the 4th.

If you had indoor facilities, would you be practicing inside this week? Would it be in your team's best interest to be inside practicing when the game will be played outside in the elements?

Did you even read the posts before you came up with your slam on HHS fans? 5 of the first 11 posts were Highlands fans giving props to Ashland. 75 center, ggclfan, SBII, horst muhlman, and sweeperboy Not even sure if the other 6 posts are all from HHS. Not so comical if you actually read what was typed.

Beau had his sights set on BYU. Most other schools knew that was his choice. It was up to BYU to make the move. If that wouldn't have panned out and the recruiting opened up, MANY schools would have come calling.

Ashland did a better job of containing Hoge than any other team has this year. Many teams have been able to put pressure on Beau, but the Tomcats were able to him in check and sacked him several times. HHS is usually so efficient offensively, not tonight. Credit to Ashland coaches and players for executing a nice game plan.

Is this interview just with the coaches this year, or are most teams being represented by players also?

Nothing official with football players still in season. Those that put in the time in the summer included 3 seniors (Ball, Harris, and Weyer), 6 Juniors ( Cain, Dougherty, Hebel, Hergott, Kendall, and New ) , several sophomores and a few freshmen. If the Birds have 20 on the JV/Varsity roster I would expect 9 sophomores and 2 frosh to fill out the list. Hopefully it all becomes official the second week of December.
