  1. Who is Scott County playing? They're still playing TBA on the KHSAA website. Also, does anyone have the correct gametimes?
  2. You're right. Al is unproven. He's shown time and time again that he doesn't have what it takes. C'mon...
  3. The Charles kid was the best player on the floor. There's no doubt about that, and there's no way I leave him open, but I usually like my chances when he's shooting from 35 feet.
  4. Creech will pull Breathitt over the top.:ylsuper:
  5. Nice start to the season for the Cougars! Their only loss was against a very good Hazard team. I hope they can hang in there against the bigger schools. On a side note, I think their new wide receivers coach is making a big difference.
  6. Colby has improved a lot, but be realistic.
  7. 5th coach in 5 years... Tough to get a program going...
  8. I think Noble definitely deserves a chance somewhere. His name has been rumored for several jobs around the 14th region over the past few years. I wish him the best if he decides to take this job.
  9. Bake has a wealth of basketball knowledge and is worthy of another chance of being a head coach. His last year at Breathitt was when the Bobcats were defeated by Powell County in the regional semis in that fiasco of a ballgame.
  10. 10 region Talbert Turner Pendleton Chris Harrison Tollesboro Corey Williams Bourbon Chris Loften Mason Alvin Simms Paris Deron Feldhaus Mason Darius Miller Mason Jeff Royce Bourbon Jerry Fogle Harrison
  11. Anyone know who might replace him?
  12. Wes Epperson, catcher from Breathitt County, was the other junior selected.
  13. What a game!!! Spectacular defense won this game. Two inning ending double plays (both on line drives to middle infielders who proceeded to step on second) saved the day for Letcher. One of the two ended the game. Letcher scored the only run of the game in the top of the eighth. The leadoff batter hit one to the right of the second baseman. His off-balance throw went in the dugout. The runner was awarded second, sacrificed to third, and scored on a beautiful suicide squeeze. Both Fyffe and Sexton were incredible. I'm not sure on their overall numbers, but they both went all 8. Fyffe gave up 3 hits and 1 unearned run (would like to see his K total) while Sexton gave up 6 hits. Both teams had one error. Hope tomorrow's game is just as exciting.
  14. At the 14th regional baseball tournament this past week, one of the biggest stories was Letcher Central going through the tournament and playing their hearts out for one of their own. One of their starters lost his mother last weekend, and he did not rejoin the team until the championship game. The team was later than expected for their semi-final game because they went as a team to pay their final respects to their teammate's mother. As I was sitting at the championship game, a parent walked by asking if anyone wanted a blue ribbon that they were giving out in memory of the player's mother. Many people took one, and I heard one of the Letcher fans begin talking with the woman. They asked her if she was close to the family. She responded that she was a Perry Central mother, and that they were all heartsick over what had happened and they wanted to do something to show support. Remember, everyone, that this happened the night after Letcher Central defeated Perry Central in the semi-final round. I, myself, love the game of baseball, but it is nice to know that some remember, even in the heat of battle, that winning and losing a game is not the most important thing in life.
  15. This was not the best game to watch, but it was a tight one. Perry got 1 in the first and Letcher answered with 4 of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Letcher extended their lead to 6-1 and Perry closed the gap to 6-5 in the top of the fifth. Both teams made several errors. This sets up tomorrow's final between Leslie and Letcher @ 6:00 at Perry Central. Coach Melton (Leslie) or Dean (Letcher) will finally get their first title. They're both great guys and coaches. Good luck to both teams.
  16. What he didn't mention was the game ended on a walk-off grand-slam. Both pitchers went all the way. Freeman is an incredible sophomore, STUD!!!!!
  17. Williamsburg has a very solid team, and I look for them to make a little noise in the postseason. I watched them play in the Queen City where they lost 4 straight winnable games by a combined 5 runs. These guys could've quit after a stretch like that, but they hung in there, and I think they may reap the benefits of coming together. It should also be noted that all 4 teams they lost to in that tournament have winning records, so it's not like they lost to nobodys.
  18. This should be a good game tonight between 2 14th region teams. I'm anxious to see how the much improved Breathitt Bobcats do against the #1 seed from the 56th district. For those interested, the game is at Breathitt @ 5:00.
  19. Eye opener? Breathitt got great pitching, and neither team played great defense. It was nice to see some high school kids in need of a big win sprinting to the plate as the winning run scored. Again, really impressed with the Bobcats pitching performance. I guess they have more than just Ritchie. Lawson threw 5 innings of off-speed, Marshall has regained his form of last year and threw 2 innings, including getting out of a bases loaded jam that he came in to. Ritchie threw the last inning, and was his usual self. Also really impressed with Hoskins from Hazard, the best all around player I've seen in the 14th this year, by far! He was 4-5 with 2 singles, a double, and a triple. He also dove for a foul ball while catching in an attempt to make a spectacular play. He gave it the full layout too, outstanding effort!
  20. Hopefully Coach Lively. Would be awesome to see a guy his age get this dream job!!
