Hats Off to Perry Central Fans!!!

Featured Replies

At the 14th regional baseball tournament this past week, one of the biggest stories was Letcher Central going through the tournament and playing their hearts out for one of their own. One of their starters lost his mother last weekend, and he did not rejoin the team until the championship game. The team was later than expected for their semi-final game because they went as a team to pay their final respects to their teammate's mother.

As I was sitting at the championship game, a parent walked by asking if anyone wanted a blue ribbon that they were giving out in memory of the player's mother. Many people took one, and I heard one of the Letcher fans begin talking with the woman. They asked her if she was close to the family. She responded that she was a Perry Central mother, and that they were all heartsick over what had happened and they wanted to do something to show support.

Remember, everyone, that this happened the night after Letcher Central defeated Perry Central in the semi-final round. I, myself, love the game of baseball, but it is nice to know that some remember, even in the heat of battle, that winning and losing a game is not the most important thing in life.

Very nice story indeed. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Glad you shared this, as so many times the only news we here is negative. A big :thumb: to the Perry Central fans.:ylsuper:

Some of the good that athletics brings to the table. Thanks Commodore fans.

Baseball has some of the best fans in the world. My hat goes of to the PCC fans.

Nice story, in a tragic time. Hopefully the game took their minds off of it for a little while.

I want to add my thanks as well. They not only handed out the ribbons, but several PCC fans wore them as well. It was extremely touching and very classy.

Can someone post the player that lost his mother?

I am pleased to hear about the Perry Central fans showing their support! Losing a family member is a horrible thing, and that young man needed all the support he could get. Thanks to the PCC fans!
