Who made the East/West team for juniors and seniors?

I wasn't able to keep track of games and players' stats around the region this year. I was curious about J. Hicks of Hazard, J. Bowling of PCC and B. Smith of KCC. I figured they would all make the all star team. What kind of season did they each have? Anyone know?

I can answer for B. Smith of KCC. Smith finished with a .463 BA, .648 OBP, .605 SLG, 25 runs, 14 stolen bases, 2 K's, 19 BB's, and finished the season on a 21 game hit streak. There were 2 gaes not listed on the KHSAA scoreboard, Lee HS from Virginia and Woodridge HS from Ohio where he had, at least 1 hit in both games. That would make the streak 23 games.

Benningfield and Brewer from Powell made the East/West team. Brewer as a junior and Benningfield as a senior. i think the Couch kid from PCC was the other senior and the player of the year.

I have a question, the Pelfrey kid from Powell had some great stats this year and I don't see his name anywhere on the East/West team. I would like to know how it is possible that a kid has a batting average of 435, lead the team in hits with 40, lead the team in SLG with 522, lead the team with a OB of 521 and has taken the Golden Glove award two years running doesn't make it and team players with lower stats are in? I don't know that states of these other kids from this East/West All Star Team, but I do think that the Pelfrey kid's stats speak for themselves. What are the numbers that are needed to be a member of this team.

The coaches within your region vote for 2 seniors and 2 juniors. I would guess that most don't look at stats as much as they rely on who played well against them.

Well with stats like that, I wouldn't think that Pelfrey had a bad game this year. It is just a shame because it looks more like politics to me instead of a "bad game". Plus he is losing an opportunity to be looked at by some good college's at the East/West game.

First off, you shouldnt down the guys who made the team, the players who made it are deserving im sure. I have saw Pelfrey play and personally i just dont think that he has all the tools to be as good as he is hyped up to be. He can hit for average and has no power and cant throw anyone out, cant really compare to other catchers from good regions who are great. Maybe next year.
