14th region all star team

Featured Replies

First off, you shouldnt down the guys who made the team, the players who made it are deserving im sure. I have saw Pelfrey play and personally i just dont think that he has all the tools to be as good as he is hyped up to be. He can hit for average and has no power and cant throw anyone out, cant really compare to other catchers from good regions who are great. Maybe next year.

Whoa!!! Who said anything about downing ANY of the guys who made the team. How can I down players that i don't know? I was talking about Pelfrey's stats and his alone. I DON'T believe this has anything to do with the GUY'S who made the team. Congrats to them all. I'm asking how can someone who has the number's to back up their game not make it. And I didn't say anything about any OTHER regions. I was speaking about the 14th. Obviously i hit a nerve with you. You are talking about the Gold Glove winner of the 2006 14th Regional Championship team, he also was the 2007 Gold Glove winner. As far as power, just how many of the East/West all star team member's have hit home runs. I don't have those numbers. I don't believe that the 14 Regions is considered a power house of home run hitters across the board.

I'm not going to get in this, but I do just want to say something really quick. He can trow people out either picking behind them at first or at second and I think I would know better than anyone. :D Thats all I wanted to say have a good time with the rest of this conversation.:D :thumb:

All-Star teams, are subjective and are selected by the Coaches. Let's not take away, from those who were selected.

Benningfield and Brewer from Powell made the East/West team. Brewer as a junior and Benningfield as a senior. i think the Couch kid from PCC was the other senior and the player of the year.

Wes Epperson, catcher from Breathitt County, was the other junior selected.

All Star teams at every level are subjective and not always "fair". Reputations mean alot to someone who has not seen all the players in action, thus the best players don't always get the most votes. With only 2 juniors and 2 seniors making the team alot of deserving players are at home for the game.

First off who hypes him up? I know him personally and the last thing he would want is for people to be talking on here. Im pretty sure he does it on the field....stats have shown that this year...as for the power, the leader of the team only had two, so Pelfrey isnt blown out of the water on that one. Pelfrey did lead the team in all stats except for HR, Stolen Bases....so i guess he is hyped up huh? But no one is putting the players down who made the team. I just think that the people who have good years should get rewarded.

Your missing the point the all star team is just not about Powell County's team. Yes he might have the best stats on a team that didnt make it out of there district, who cares he has next year.

Did they play this past weekend? I know they usually play the 13th region on Father's Day.

Yep. The 13th, 14th, and 15th all played at North Laurel(juniors) and South Laurel(seniors).

Senior All Star Games

13th over 14th 7 - 6.

15th over the 14th 13 - 7.

13th over the 15th 13 - 2.

And the only junior game I know was that the 14th beat the 15th 10-1.

Actually the game between the 14th and 15th was 13 to 9. But it was still a loss. I know one thing for sure it was hot enough to fry an egg on my head!!!

I did enjoy watching them play. A great bunch of young men.

I did fry one, on my forehead....:D For the record, sunscreen serves no purpose in your vehicle.

I may be wrong, but I believe the 13th & 15th Junior game, was 4-3. Much more shade at North, than South.

Gavin Wells (Leslie/Alice Lloyd Signee) should have been on the senior team.

Anywho, congrats to all that made the teams.

I tottaly agree. Gavin has a 500 plus career batting avg. Pretty impressive for a four year starter. Look for him to keep up impressive numbers in college.

I have a question, the Pelfrey kid from Powell had some great stats this year and I don't see his name anywhere on the East/West team. I would like to know how it is possible that a kid has a batting average of 435, lead the team in hits with 40, lead the team in SLG with 522, lead the team with a OB of 521 and has taken the Golden Glove award two years running doesn't make it and team players with lower stats are in? I don't know that states of these other kids from this East/West All Star Team, but I do think that the Pelfrey kid's stats speak for themselves. What are the numbers that are needed to be a member of this team.

WOW....it appears that Profitt,Kinser,Brewer and Ryan are going to have to step it up next year.

Seriously, sounds like if pelfrey has a bad day powell is lost.
