Montgomery co lost some size and athleticism but overall are still very,very competitive. Look for montgomery co. to be tougher next year than this year due to their upcoming reformation? Size and strength and conditioning will be the order for them in the off season. They all know the game can play the game but can they dominate the game? That will be the test of time.

You people just dont get it. Sometimes the right kid gets rewarded for EVERYTHING that makes them great. Congrats to a great kid, student-athlete, and oh yeah; one heck of a ball player. You guys have not mentioned anything about Montgomery Co. That should be a coaches dream: 9 million dollar gym, new weight room, 1200 kids, good salary, great location (30min from lexington)! Why is there not much hype over that job

I agree, it was fun watching them. They are a good team. They are not 4a, so they wont win it. Sound harsh, go check the guru's last thread!

Guys I live in Kentucky, I love kentucky but just because it has always been done that way doesnt mean that it always has to stay that way. Wise man say, "Things must and always do change my friend."

I stated in a thread at an earlier time when someone's post to me was "Kentucky is the only school left that does not class basketball." My response to that was, "I guess all the other 49 states must have gotten it all wrong then, huh?"

Cooksey and Vanhoose did great jobs as well as Hicks and and a few other coaches and players. All of the coaches picked and selected Daniel and Mays. Super job and leave it that. Ask Cooksey and Vanhoose and they are probably happy for those guys, let it be. If you want a say so, go coach somewhere. GPA should matter that is why they are student/athletes. It is a basketball award but he would not have had a shot at this award if he was scoring 30 and had a 1.5gpa because he would have not been eligible.

Those numbers are not really indicative of what type of career he has had a Montgomery Co. Here is why: Every Coach schedules himself 6 or so shoe in wins if they can and 6 a year for 10 years is 60 of those 100 wins you are talking about. Then you have years where all of those schools are not so bad and while traditionally they may not be strong, scheduling them in a particular year may not be a bad thing if it makes for a competitive game. Montgomery Co. has not always been a 1200 kid school There were times when he too was a smaller (not smaller) but small/med school. Montgomery Co. for the past few years has been a younger talented team. This year with seniors coming up they have been relieved of contract restraints and are able to "beef up" the schedule some which he has already done before his announced retirement I understand. I think that the old ball coach will be realistic in his expectations on the successor of the program. He will want them to win the games he is supposed to be close in all others win some/lose some. I dont think he will anticipate the next coach to win 500 like he did, but I feel like the administration will seek someone who will be willing to make a long term committment to the program. One of the many things I have learned from coach is this, "Continuity" and I think that he will expect that from his new coach.

I live in the 10th so I will pull for the tenth today but coach in the 16th so later tonight Im all Lions.

Coach Scott is a great coach. EXTREMELY knowledgable. Coach Rison has established himself as a great coach over 20+ years and has surrounded himself with great people who helped make that program one of the best in the state.

Not tough because of what you are losing on the far ends of the region with rose hill and russell but raceland,elliott,ashland,rowan,all of those teams will be tough with all of the young talent out there.

I doubt any one will stop them. It seems that they have already committed to winning the whole thing. You can see it in them.

I would be willing to bet that there was about 15 their yesterday. A lot of smaller schools send their assistant coaches who ultimately do the recruiting of the non "blue chippers".

I would take a kid half as talented as either of those two in a minute.

Coach Rison has always been good to me and my wife as coaches and as friends. Thanks coach.
